i know this isn't really the place, but i'm watching the jays and rangers right now. they're in the 11th and something is going on i've never seen before. texas has claimed a reliever off waivers from the mets. he got to the ballpark in the 9th inning, got into a uni and went down to the bullpen in the 11th to introduce himself. the phone rings, and the guy goes from introducing himself to the relief corps to warming up. he then comes into the game in the 11th and introduces himself to the catcher and the rest of the infield, who he's never met. the infield is laughing their ass off while he's warming up because they have no idea who this guy is, and he's wearing someone else's uniform to boot. and now he's just given up a walkoff hit to kevin millar. welcome to the texas rangers, son. weird day for the kid.

At this point, we're somewhat blurring the lines between threads. Next, the line between the forum and the rest of the world.

I'll forgive you for your off-topic story because that is censored awesome. Bet that'll be the lead on Uniwatch tomorrow.

That was a fun 3rd period. (In fact, this makes the second night in a row I have watched hockey. Yesterday I even watched the Ducks game, rather than the Lakers. That was a good one too.)

Edit: or maybe that was the 2nd period. I don't know, I'm confused.

if you're talking about the cal/chi game, that was the 2nd. 6 goals. wild. fun to watch though.

(Yeah, I thought it was the third for some reason, which made it seem even more awesome, but still, it was pretty awesome.)

(Also, here we go.)

Is this on TV? I have the downstairs one to myself now, and the Hornets game is fuckingover.

So, the Blackhawks are totally going to censored this series up, aren't they?

Did Mike Green miss the plane to New York? He has practically been invisible the past two games.

I'm still going to game 5 anyway. :)

Pittsburgh and Detroit will advance tonight.

The first rounds of the NHL and NBA playoffs, while necessary, are brutal. Some of these teams don't belong, including the Blues.

Looking forward to the 2nd rounds of each.

The Blues had a better record than the Ducks, a team that's leading their series. It's easy to say in hindsight, oh, that team wasn't good enough to win, but no one knows how things are going to go until they get on the ice (it's a silly thing to say that certain teams "don't belong", in other words).

i really, really wish it didn't start at 10:30 local time. from what little i've seen, that's been a great series.

I can't even comprehend having to watch a sporting event that begins at 10:30 p.m.

Yeah, occasionally I'll watch a Hawaii football game that starts around 9 or 9:30 over here and wonder how people on the east coast put up with it.

This is why I live in California. I went to New York to visit a friend in October 2006, and some playoff game was on. I said, "Why can't we go out after it's over? We'll miss the game," and she looked at me like I was crazy.

It must suck to live in Hawaii. The NFL starts at 8 a.m. every Sunday. When do they sleep?

It's too bad you can't get the Comcast Sports Net feed of the Sharks/Ducks game. I really wonder whether Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda are that good, or if we're just biased. I mean, Drew is no Ron Santo, but he sounds so intelligent when he breaks down the replays. (And the radio color guy Jamie Baker is a hoot to listen to, although maybe it's just the northern accent.)

For those who watch, let me know what you think of Nabby, assuming he plays as he has for the past week. Also, Torrey Mitchell is back finally. He is one of the fastest skaters in the league.

I think they just go to sleep. Hence, the East Coast bias.

unless you know anything about said team, I agree.

The Blues had been crazy hot for two months, beating the Canucks, Sharks, Flames, Blackhawks, Blue Jackets (twice) and Red Wings, among others. Their record, starting on Feb. 13, was 19-6-3. Over the last 10 before the playoffs, they were 8-1-1. If anyone thought they were just going to roll over and die, they should be taking that sort of clairvoyance to Las Vegas.

mostly, yes. which saddens me to no end. there's some good hockey teams out west this year. and the kings, of course.

i'm going to go with detroit, philly, jersey and san jose tonight.

detroit wins after columbus takes a too many men penalty with a minute and a half left. tough way to lose, but a horribly stupid thing to do.

also, watching the highlights it looks like brodeur and ward put on an absolute clinic. 44 and 41 saves respectively in a 1-0 hockey game.
