Almost perfect!

ST. LOUIS, MO (SD) - In a 10-0 romp over the last-place Dodgers, Chico Pepperr came within two innings of a perfect game.
Pepperr (11-6) pitched seven innings if masterful ball in front of a wildly cheering home crowd before giving up a leadoff single to Brooklyn pinch hitter Jock Fuller in the eighth. Fuller, a top prospect subbing for the injured Art Bauer, was caught stealing soon afterward, and Pepperr went on to face the minimum number of batters.
Tomorrow, the Browns try to complete the sweep behind Brian Mayz (6-4, 4.13 ERA). Mayz will be facing off against southpaw Jerry Ross (3-6, 6.20 ERA). Light attendance is expected, a problem plaguing all National League teams this year in games against the Dodgers.

That was a good game, Pepperr decided that if he was going to win he'd have to throw a perfect game evidently. :)
Here's his 2 starts previous to this:
Against Milwaukee.

I'd say it's about time St. Louis gave Pepperr a little help. :)

I finally got a chance to look at this box score, and Pepperr's 1 hitter isn't all there is. This game saw a Grand Slam and, of all things, Pepperr hit a 2 R triple!
Of course Martinez still holds the biggest hit by a St. Louis Pitcher, a Home Run... But Pepper leads the teams Pitchers with 54 ABs, a 222 Avg.
