Life draft idea

Obviously this isnt an option, but I think there is a way you can do it. I wish I would've thought of this before my custom league but here is my idea.

You have no one set initial draft preferences. You just left the draft run and the players go where they go. The only purpose of the initial draft is to establish draft order. Then, everyone prints off the rankings and takes a look at the players and forms their lists. So we'll give it 3 days or some number of days after the initial draft, then everyone will meet in the chat room and draft live. Everyone will give the players to their respective teams and the season will begin as always.

Either that, or Tyson could just do the draft and have all the randomly generated people just all get drafted by the waiver pool, instead of going to teams and getting all messy. It would definately have to be a custom team thing.

Sounds good

I like this idea. I would also suggest a small, possible, change. Have everyone set their criteria as normal and let the draft run. Everyone would keep the LAST 25 rounds of players. This would cut down on the time needed for a live draft without greatly changing the make up of your team. Drafting 800 players takes a LONG time. Even drafting 1/minute it would take 13 hours and 20 minutes to complete. FAR to long. I would suggest breaking the draft up in to 2 sessions. Even drafting 400 players would take some time. Just a thought.

Yes, my emphasis here was getting the key guys you want. Even if we just drafted live the first 10 rounds and let our prefs take over it would be sweet!

That could work. Could also do all the amatuer drafts like that.

I think it is good except people would have to be there, so i guess if someone doesnt pick after 5 mins or so, then their draft preferances draft for them. I guess the first 18 picks or so would be the most important because after that it is backups

It's a pretty good idea. I suspect the easiest way to do it is require everyone to waive their first X number of picks right after the draft, and then they're all in one convenient place for everyone to research from the waiver wire. It might be a lot of fun. You'd have to make sure there was a lot of time between the draft and the start of the season, to make sure you got it all done in time ...
