my #1 pitcher johnny jones is 18-0 with a 2.32 era, 6 complete games, 2 shutouts and 182.1 innings pitchedAugust 23, 2003 at 12:12PM View BBCode
he's in third behind a guy 13-6 2.67era, and in the top spot is a guy18-4 2.71eraAugust 27, 2003 at 02:48PM View BBCode
My pitcher started off the season with an ERA of less than 2, and began with a 13-0 record. He's only had one bad game since, and is now 17-4. There's still a good 6-7 starts left for him. He IS in the lead for the Cy Young. But when he was about 10-0, 1.30, he was in second or third behind an A- guy, granted, but who wasn't doing all that well (comparatively...he was still something like 8-5, 2.80).August 27, 2003 at 03:54PM View BBCode
There is a lot of emphasis on complete games and even more on shutouts...a 10-10 guy with a 3 ERA and 10 shutouts will beat a guy that is 20-0 with a 2 ERA and 4 shutouts every timeAugust 27, 2003 at 06:39PM View BBCode
Based on what I have seen in the short time I have been playing, on the leader board for awards like MVP and Cy Young, it appears that the importance of some things need to be lowered and the importance of others raised. I will leave that up to the experts to decide, but I think we have all seen cases where we thought someone was clearly better than another yet they were below them in votes.August 28, 2003 at 12:22AM View BBCode
I have a pitcher in my league who has a higher era and much worse record than my pitcher but is in the Cy Young lead because he has 12 complete games.Pages: 1
