Bob Dylan's Birthday Thread
May 24, 2007 at 02:13AM View BBCode
Often referred to as the "most important voice of his generation," Bob Dylan epitomized the free, folk sound of the '60s. Celebrate the Tambourine Man's birthday on May 24th with some down-home revelry of your own.
Instructions
Difficulty: Easy
Steps
Step One
Write a private birthday card addressed to Robert Zimmerman, Bob Dylan's original birth name.
Step Two
Play a little harmonica in tribute to the man who made a name with this unique instrument.
Step Three
Break out your CD collection and play Bob's first hit original album from beginning to end. "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" was released in 1963 and was his first step on the path to international fame.
Step Four
Bust out your dusty tambourine and make some noise in celebration of one of Mr. Dylan's most famous ditties, "Mr. Tambourine Man."
Step Five
Rent the films, "Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid", "Don't Look Back" and "The Last Waltz," Bob's claims to fame on the movie circuit.
Step Six
Do something that makes you feel free. Bob Dylan is known for his timely, poetic lyrics and his ability to speak to our need for freedom.
Tips & Warnings
Although he refused to play at Woodstock, the spirit of Dylan's music was an integral force at the legendary Woodstock show. The event, and the people who attended it, speaks volumes about the fans who called Bob Dylan their own.
Happy Birthday Bob

I own all of them -- but the last happens to be The Band's cinematic claim to fame. Dylan just makes an appearance (and was kind of a dick about the whole thing).
I'll be dipping into my CD collection tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder.

I dance naked to "watchin the river flow" every morning
my favorite album of his is "love and theft"
it's such a different feel than anything else he ever did
I'm one of 3 people in the world who loves "saved"

Saved might be the best of "those Albums" if you don't include Infidels which someone on here does not like done.

slow train is better, IMO, but I love the gospel singers on saved
shot of love has its moments, but also some weak tracks

These days Love and Theft gets more play then most other things maybe with the exception of [url=http://www.bobsboots.com/CDs/cd-g13.html]Genuine Live 1966[/url]
