Player ability increases

I'm kind of curious how the players have gone in the past in beta. I only had players improve 66 times last season in the Willie Mays League. Very few times did a player with only 1 cp improve. I had 4 pitchers that spent a lot of time in the minors, but I only got 3 improvements from them.

Has there been a cyclic result? Starting off with good players, as they retire more and more C rated have to take over and then slowly work up to good ratings in time to begin the decline?

I suppose this could be the lower end of the curve, and they'll explode with 150 improvements this next year... Just kinda wondering if it's worth the cp or even the roster slot to keep a 21 year old that hits with Ds... would he ever become a star?

I guess I'll know at the end of this season, but curiosity has me now! Help! It's pulling me down! :)

Well, the code was designed so that if a player didn't have any coach points assigned to him, he wouldn't realize any improvements. As has been reported, this isn't how the game is behaving at times.

So if its not happening enough, I really don't know because its not supposed to be happening at all :D

Aye, I realize that. I had coaching points assigned to the players. I know if there are no points assigned he shouldn't improve, I haven't seen an occasion where one has though.

My curiosity went more towards the development in total. Has the minors produced stars, or is the cyclic nature I described. Which doesn't sound all that bad I guess, but if a 21 year old that has hitting in the Ds had nearly no chance of becoming a star, it would make more sense to have your minors be backup veterans, with some young guys that are on the verge... than to have a this 21 year old that's just not good enough to begin with taking that slot.

I guess the real question was more towards do improvements happen enough? If a team full of veterans had everyone start retiring, you'd hope to be able to build up to be competitive in a few seasons, but if the results I saw were usual it looks like it could take 10 to 12 to rebuild, in which case the more talented players in the amateur draft gives a little extra power to the rebuilding process. Even if the team didn't draft them I've already seen some "close" players get turned to the waiver wire for lack of space, and of course the "closer" the guy is the less time it takes to build him up, etc.
