Jim Carter has not had much to celebrate this year. Entering last night's game with an unsightly 6.91 ERA, the left handed starter has been the frequent target of boos from the Boston fans. But it was a different Jim Carter that took the mound last night against New York. A pitcher who delivered his teams finest pitching performance of the season and dominated the opposition not allowing a single hit. He got into one jam by walking the bases loaded in the eighth but got out of it without surrendering a hit. As the historic final out was recorded with the fans who had often booed him on their feet cheering his team rushed over and embraced him and carried him off the field. "I guess this shows what I'm capable of" Carter said after the game. "I just hope I can have a couple more strong outings like this." His team, locked in a very tight pennant race, certainly hopes the same thing.Pages: 1
