Standardized Scheduling (all commishes please read)

October 28, 2003 at 05:44PM View BBCode

As a way of standardizing league scheduling, I am toying with the idea of automating the schedule of playoffs, offseason, draft, and next season start date. This would effectively take the "human error" factor out of these events and should result in far fewer problems.

In order to do this, I have to pretty much put everyone on the same schedule for these events. Here is what I propose - let me know if this works. For any future leagues, I will probably either make them adhere to this schedule or charge some kind of scheduling fee per owner to make it custom.

LCS - 1st Day
Starts on the first full day after the season ends. So if the season ends at 11AM on a Thursday, the LCS would start on Friday. 10 game schedule with 3 offdays. Specific game times customizable by league.

World Series - 2nd Day
10 game schedule with 3 offdays. Specific game times customizable by league.

OffSeason and Draft - 3rd Day
Times customizable by league.

Season Starts Back up - 4th Day
Games would begin with the first game on that day.

I think the only contention point might be the season start up date as I know a few leagues like some extra days in there.

Let me know if your league would have a problem with this schedule, and if it would please specify why.

The Jackie Robinson league usually has an extra day between the offseason/draft and the start of the next season. However, we could certainly go with this schedule.

By the way, when would tie-breaker games happen? Would they take place on the same day as the end of the regular season or the same day as the LCS?

Tiebreakers would be the first event of the LCS. This also serves as an offday as well (in sim time, it is October 3rd.)

It looks good to me

I like the new format, it sure would make it alot easier to plan my schedule for each day. Thanks,

I agree with Bob. Would it be possible to schedule at least one day between offseason/draft and the start of the next season? I think that would be better but I can live with it either way.

I think it is fine...it will also cut down on complaints by owners who don't like the moderator proposed schedules.

I also agree with Bob, but could live with it.

Standardized Testing

October 29, 2003 at 03:05PM View BBCode

We're testing this in the beta league right now, I may move it over next week sometime.

If any leagues have a good reason why they can't start up the next day after the draft, I should be able to manually schedule that one aspect of the schedule.

(Just sitting back and waiting for the league with a live manual draft to make a comment  )

I have now problems with the proposed schedule. It is the same one the Yogi Berra League uses.

1st Live draft was held last night.

Tyson,
The Live Draft League in my opinion would need a 2 day extention to start the league.
1 day for the live draft and 1 day to set their lineups and rotations, as the live draft is conducted in the late evening.
My opinion only as a member of live draft league.

It would not work at all in the Bob Ueker League. We need the off season and drafts to run immediately following the season so that people have enough time to drop their draftees to waivers and then for people to get their drafts lists together and then hold the draft and then a day for people to pickup their players, set their rosters and make any trades. Great idea, but would completely kill one of the great things we are doing in the BUL.

I can continue to manually schedule the season start stuff for the Bob Uecker league since that is a valid reason IMO.

TDeveau31 and I were emailing today and it made me think of an easy way to add in some bonus offdays after the draft. You could add in as many days as you need between these the Draft and the League start and I could configure it by league.

Going to test this setup in Beta. Thanks for all the comments everyone.

We will be putting the schedules for this in today. I am planning on posting a schedule in each league message board - commishes you can notify me if you want changes to the schedule.
