Looking for an aging hitter

November 01, 2007 at 12:21PM View BBCode

I've put out a few offers to teams but no luck so far...so I thought I'd try the board: I'm looking for a legitimate star hitter who has at least a couple of years left before declining. Will trade a draft pick and/or younger player for him. But please don't insult each of us by asking for a stud young pitcher or a stud young hitter for a guy who has a year or two left. Let's make a fair trade considering the variables we're dealing with.

Two years of a Star Hitter can be quite valueable. Could make the difference between a champion and a contender. Depending on who is selling you may need to give more than you want for your star hitter.

Sometimes timming brings you one. A player who decides it is time to rebuild may be willing to give up a star. That is great when it works out. But, I doub't you will get one on short notice wihtout paying a premium price.

The Wheels might be willing to do some sort of deal at the end of this season (or late this season if my team tanks). This season I still have a reasonable chance to win a championship. I will not give that up. With my best 4 pitchers in decline next season, I doubt I will have the pitching to finish near the top. So I will be open to a good trade. Then you may be able to get one of my stars for solid prospect(s) and/or pick(s).

Just looking for a fair deal. Make an offer and let's negotiate.

Roth, I put an offer out there on the table. I put ample time into the offer and considering the prize at stake here is a World Championship I do not think it is too much to ask. However, if you wish to negotiate further, I can be reached on AIM @ bowlingforblair or through u2u's.
