Wow, not a lot of good choices this year or something. Did you see how many votes Pinella got? Eric Wedge and Alan Trammell even picked up a few votes.November 13, 2003 at 07:21PM View BBCode
I was lmao when I saw Trammel got a vote. He coached the second worst team ever.November 13, 2003 at 07:47PM View BBCode
wait trammel wuz voted al manager of the year? i know that the nl wuz a no brainer but trammel of all people for the al.November 13, 2003 at 07:55PM View BBCode
Piniella is working some magic down in Tampa Bay. Now if he can just get some salary room to work with...November 13, 2003 at 08:04PM View BBCode
i heard zimmer may be named d rays bench coach which would give pinella another great coach to help shape those young players.November 14, 2003 at 02:35AM View BBCode
I find it amusing that Grady Little finished 4th after being fired.November 14, 2003 at 02:58AM View BBCode
i say pena 1st, pinnella or torre 2nd, and then well... i dunno.November 14, 2003 at 03:04AM View BBCode
he did better with his group of players than most other people could hope to do. He was froced to send out a team that is worse than most rec leagues for 13 year olds. They were lucky they didn't lost 162 games, managing 40 wins is a major accomplishment for that talent. They have no pitching and no hittingNovember 14, 2003 at 03:05AM View BBCode
The Tigers have Dmitri Young, and well, yeah, they have Dmitri Young.November 14, 2003 at 04:47AM View BBCode
tigers also have alex sanchez. he had something like 40 steals and a .280 avg as well as 30-40 times caught stealing. they also have the worst excuse for a bullpen by committee ever. i think roney led em with 3 savesNovember 14, 2003 at 07:36AM View BBCode
Trammel probably doesn't deserve to win, but he deserves a couple votes just for sticking with it all year. The thing is, how can anyone think he should've won? He had the worst team in the history of baseball and ended up with one of the worst records in baseball history--he did exactly what you would've expected. If they'd finished 62-100--with the club they had--I would've voted for Trammel in a heartbeat.November 14, 2003 at 03:55PM View BBCode
yeah, 1 vote is enough for not killing himself, going on a mad killing spree, and bascailly not killing anyone for losing so much.November 15, 2003 at 09:25PM View BBCode
well skier, i generally dont refer to guys as "hot" but lets not get off topic. i think that torre isnt in the top 5. 150% of the second place teams salery, and you dont win the WS, come on. i think even if he won the WS, i would have a lot of trouble putting him in the top 3. it seems like a chimpanzee could manage a team with that big of an advantage to game 6 of the WS. also, the whole controversy with zimmer leaving, and almost he whole managing leaving, or considering leaving (1b coach, pitchining coach considers leaving, bench coach, the list goes on) isnt too good of keeping your managers happyNovember 15, 2003 at 11:17PM View BBCode
i meant that the picture wuz hot but anyway stottlemyre returned, mattingly wuz hired as the batting coach and hell yea torre deserves most of the credit for their championship years. he is the best postseason manager rite now and one of the best all time. not to mention having no bullpen, injuries to johnson, williams, rivera, and jeter. who did boston have injured pedro for wut a week? and the yankees still finished ahead of them and still beat them in the alcs. now if u wanna talk about chimpanzees running teams please refer to grady little.November 15, 2003 at 11:22PM View BBCode
he got a pretty bad name considering he made one call that i agreed with that was bad. it is easy to be "the best post season coach" when you are the yankees head coach. oh yeah, batting coach can be put on the list. the yankees "horrible" bullpen included Rivera who you said was the best pitcher in MLB, and during the playoffs they could have a four man rotation, so all their men were rested, AND they had Contreras in the bullpen. i dont think any of those guys were injured during the playoffs. also beating the redsox is expected. if you subtract rivera, williams, johnson, AND jeter, the yankees will STILL probably have a higher salery, and those guys werent gone the whole season.November 15, 2003 at 11:24PM View BBCode
oh not to mention according to you, the redsox were managed by a chimpanzee, so outmanaging him shouldnt be that hard right?November 15, 2003 at 11:27PM View BBCode
atlanta braves were the most winningest franchise in the 90's but bobby cox is a bad postseason manager so they didnt win a world series. and johnson and bernie were out almost half the year, jeter wuz out for a good portion and rivera wuz out for a little while and yet the still finished ahead of the "best redsox team ever." as far as the pen yea they have rivera the best postseason closer of all time and in my opinion the best closer now, but who did they have leading up to him, jeff weaver, antonio osuna, juan acevedo? ahhh yea.November 15, 2003 at 11:29PM View BBCode
lets talk post season, since torre is who you said is the best post season coach. no one injured, 4 man rotation of good starters, Contreras in the bullpen with rivera. what happened?November 15, 2003 at 11:32PM View BBCode
ok sucky hitting coach, no one besides contreras in the pen that wuz slightly reliable and a worn out staff from the boston series.November 15, 2003 at 11:35PM View BBCode
the boston series, the one where their 2 best hitters did nothing, yet it went to 7 games?November 15, 2003 at 11:37PM View BBCode
boston series the one where they used three starting pitchers and rivera for three innings in game 7.November 15, 2003 at 11:45PM View BBCode
who did they not use in the boston series? jeff weaver and the starter that they didnt use wuz andy pettitte who pitched the day before.Pages: 1 2
