April Power Rankings

Its time for the first installment of this season's Power Rankings.
1. Brooklyn
Brooklyn pulled off a major heist by sending Roger Cedeno and two ciphers to Chicago in exchange for Dwight Rowe. This move clearly puts the Bounty Hunters in the upper tier of N.L. teams. The pitching staff is one of the most solid in baseball, and to date, has issued fewer walks than any other team in the league.
2. Kansas City.
Carl Yaz and Joe Tamulis form one of the strongest 3-4 punches in baseball, and Creepy Cobb(what a name) has come out of nowhere to hit 7 home runs. The pitching staff from top to bottom looks outstanding on paper. On the downside, four of their five best hitters all have health ratings below C-, so expect mediocrities like Dan Barberich to get more than their reccomended amount of playing time.
3. Cleveland
Expect this club to be streaky. Only three pitchers have control ratings higher than (B-), which could be a problem. To date, however, the Tribe has been clicking on all cylinders. Pistol Pete Dimmel has saved 8 games without surrendering a run, Icebox Moron leads the A.L. in RBIs, and Rosario McGrath has been the best starter in the A.L. in April.
4. Pittsburg
The 1,2,3 hitters in the batting order are combining to hit .370, which helps. Ace Steve Blass has yet to pitch to his full potential this year. On the downside, opposing baserunners can steal bases at will on Pittsburg's catching unit.
5. Philadelphia
The imminent return of Joe Drews(their best hitter,) should propel this club upward. Without Drews, this lineup looks very weak. This club will also need to get better starting pitching performances from starters not named Hensley Martinez.
6. Baltimore
The Studs have played well so far, but the whole pitching staff shows omens of having severe problems in the future, with only two hurlers with control ratings of (B) or higher. On the positive side, the whole lineup from top to bottom has been hitting.
7. St. Louis
The defending John McGraw league champs find themselves one game under .500 at this juncture, and defensive miscues and blunders have cost the Reich at least six of their losses. However, the offense is the most explosive in the league, the pitching staff leads the majors in complete games, and Brian Boru has come from nowhere to post a 1.467 OPS.
8. Washington
Only one position player has a health rating higher than (C+), so don't expect much consistency in the lineup. Tommy Hynson has been lights out as the closer, but he needs too much rest between games when he pitches. No other pitcher in the Washington bullpen is particularly durable, so the starting rotation has to work deep into games. This could become a issue in down the stretch.
9, Chicago (NL)
The quality left side of the Cub infield embodied in Ricky Hazle and Johnny Steirer is on the disabled list for a very long time, so managment has to plug holes. The pitching staff has a premium of guys whom are known for control, so lengthy losing streaks could be in this team's future. Austin Walker is hitting .400, but Jayhawk Henry has yet to find his power stroke.
10. Boston
The lineup is full of guys who hit for power and strike out alot, especially against RHPs. Catcher Ryne Morton shuts down the running game of opposing teams. Roger Hall is arguably the best SP in the A.L.. This team has yet to play to its full capabilities.
11. New York(AL)
Scott Chaplain is thriving in a Middle Relief role, but none of starters have yet to accrue more than one victory. There is no depth whatsoever off the bench. Overall, however, this is probably the best defensive club in either league.
12. Milwaukee
The starting pitching has looked very good, but the lineup doesn't do much hitting. Jason Mann was a waste of a #1 catching pick; with a C+ arm and D health, he's only in the lineup about 60% of the time and basestealers can skip down to second base.
13. New York(NL)
Reich castoff Roman Dalkowski has been inserted in the rotation and has been predictably getting pounded. Congrats to the Magi on winning the Gary Williams derby. The results of the Arky Pinto derby will be revealed in one hour. Anyway, on paper, this is one of the better looking N.L. teams, and the Magi have ample time to turn things around.
14. Chicago (AL)
Sending Dwight Rowe to Brooklyn was a huge blunder. The offense already had the lowest BA in baseball save Detroit. Expecting Rogelio Miller to be a competent 5th starter is probably going to end badly. Honestly, its really tough to find anything else to say about this team.
15. Cincinatti
This absentee team has a fine collection of players, and its a shame no one is at the helm. I still think that Cincinatti has enough pitching talent on the roster to still be competitive if someone takes over here. RF Lenny Campbell managed to injure himself for a month without actually having a single plate appearance.
16. Detroit
Its not just bad, its 87 O's bad. Catcher Jack Fermin is an outrageously talented hitter, but he has the footspeed of a vending machine, so he should not be hitting leadoff. Even if someone takes over here, there's no digging out of this hole back into contention.
