1) Who hit a single season record six grand slams in one season (he never hit one before or after that year)

2) who is the only home run champ to be traded for the batting crown winner (he once hit four consecutive home runs in one game)

3) manager connie mack of the 1929 philadelphia Athletics had six pitchers who posted double-digit wins: George Earnshaw (24), Lefty Grove (20), Rube Walberg (18), Ed Rommel (12), Jack Quinn (12), and Bill Shores (11) but none of them pitched the opening game of that year's World Series against the Cubs.
instead, Mack decided to go with a 35 year old right hander who would never again win a regular season major league game
macks instincts wre correct. the veteran of 15 major league seasons with a 166-166 career record tantalized teh hard hitting bruins batters with a variety of off speed pitches and rolled to a 3-1 win behind a record 13 strikeouts, which stood until it was broken by Carl Erskine of the 1953 Brooklyn Dodgers, who mowed down 14 yankees batters. with the red sox in 1923, he no-hit the host Philidelphi Athletics, 4-0. Who was he?

Mattingly hit 6.

In 1959, Rocky Colavito won the home run crown for Cleveland, and Harvey Kuenn won the batting title for Detroit. In the April of 1960, they were traded for one another.

Howard Ehmke, of course.

Good questions.

people with cool-sounding names are cool.

Kleinsasser, Fuamatu-Ma'afala, Ostertag are the best. Houshmandzedah is up there.
