As the days of summer race toward September
I look back to April and fondly remember
The hopes of spring and summer to come
Looking forward to all the games I would have won
But summers here and my teams far from stellar
In fact we find ourselves down deep in the cellar
But fall brings winter and winter, spring
For spring glows bright and brings better things
For as I watch summer pass and fall grow near
I can honestly say ?Just wait till next year!?

I know exactly how you feel. The season takes eons to play when one's team plays like they've quit. I've had quite a few teams whose players perform as if they would rather be scrubbing the clubhouse urinals than playing ball.

Your team is just celebrating (in it's own way) the 120th anniversary of the Kansas City Blues 1888 season in the American Association, that's all.

You may be cursed until you rename a player Fatty Briody

Nah, I was just saying that until you get a guy named Fatty Briody, the team may play like the 1888 Blues. There is no curse (that I know of!) with him other than his terrible name and mediocre stats.
He actually has a wikipedia page.
And it's strange that wikipedia has KC listed as the Cowboys in 1888, when the other link I provided above has the KC team as the Blues. Oh well...
