[size=3]Rational for Rule 17[/size]: The Catcher Rule was made in April 2004 to insure that teams carried at least 2 catchers on their ML rosters. It was possible in 2004 for any player to catch even if they had zero skills as a catcher.
[size=3]Changes Programmed by Tyson[/size]: A couple of years later, Tyson reprogrammed Sim Dynasty that prevented anyone playing the catcher position unless they had 50% or better skills as a catcher. In addition, Tyson programmed the system to prevent an owner from setting their lineup unless they had at least 2 catchers on their roster with 50% or better skills.
[size=3]OCL Catcher Rule Violation Issue[/size]: Under the current OCL rules, a team is in violation if they do not have 2 catchers with 100% skill as catcher. Often it meant that a team was in violation when they played their catcher in a different position and that player's primary role changed from catcher to another position. It seems that every other season or so, one or more teams would be in violation and would require Commissioner (me) intervention to bring the teams back to compliance.

All teams must have at least 2 catchers on their major league roster with 50% or better skills to be able to adjust their lineup, make roster changes, or control their team. Rule 17 is redundant in my opinion.

How recent was this adjustment? My primary catcher, Larvell Cree, played 3B enough to turn into a 3B about three seasons ago and I had to be advised that it happened as I was in violation of the rule. It took about a quarter of a season to play him back into being a C again. I like, from an aesthetic perspective, whatever we can do to compel people to play real baseball. There are a lot of Bill Veecks around here who would play a team full of midgets if they could, and there are rules that are somewhat arbitrary (like the name change rule). So I don't know what I vote for, yet. I will keep looking at the thread. I like two catchers, but I don't need redundancy.

Change the rule...bringing up C+ catchers or picking up guys off the WW just to be in compliance is annoying.
