Tug McGraw, RIP

January 06, 2004 at 03:54AM View BBCode

Tug McGraw, relief pitcher for the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies, died from brain cancer today, 5 January 2004. He was just 59 years old.

He died at the home of his son, country singer Tim McGraw, near Nashville, TN.

McGraw debuted with the Mets in 1965, and closed out his career in Philadelphia in 1984. He was 96-92 in his career, with 180 saves and a 3.14 ERA.

He was truly one of the outstanding characters in the game, as well as being an extraordinarily talented reliever.

Another of baseball's bright stars snuffed out ... he will be missed.

i am glad he died. he was seriously messed up. If i were his kid or something, I would probably shove him out a window or something to end his misery.

i wuz thinkin more like maybe he is better off dying bcuz he doesnt have to put up with the misery and pain the diesease could cause. i really hope when i have kids they arent like u. i dont wanna get the flu and have to worry about them shootin me to "put me out of my misery."
