Tyson,
Has there ever been any thought on a football sim?
Also......
Did anything happen with the mlb league with salaries and all?

If this is seriously something that is being considered, I would be glad to lend my assistance in some sort of development/test area. I happen to actually enjoy NFL more than MLB and have done some messing around with statistical analysis and what-not.

Football is much, much harder to quantify statistically and much more complex in terms of variables (field position, defensive alignments, formations, player substitutions, injuries).
As much as I'd love to see it work, I have a hard time believing that someone could generate a realistic sim that would satisfy folks around here.
I've been playing a basketball sim that pops here on the banner ads frequently called BuzzerBeater. The game simulator is pretty impressive, but it's a clunky game from the GM perspective. You can't make trades, for instance.

The actual simulating of the scrimmages isn't the the real challenge so much as the AI. A football game would be far more about the in-game strategy than baseball. It would need a very flexible rule system, plus good AI for when a rule can't be found to apply.
Because there are fewer games in a football season, I would simulate one quarter at a time as opposed to one game at a time, which would allow for adjustments during a game.

I play sim football at SimGalaxy.com. Saw it once on a banner ad here and tried it out. It's pretty good, with salary caps and coaches you can sign and whatnot. Takes some getting used to after SD, but passable.

BuzzerBeater isn't bad. I don't like the Week format though. Nothing to really do for about 6 Days of the week.

My God...if my wife found out that SD might now include football...I may as well start splitting those assets (not that are many to split).
Seriously, this looks cool!

Chris,
This looks excellent! I have been playing SimGalaxy for a few seasons, and I am sure your football game will be much, much better. I don't even think SimGalaxy actually even simulates a game. Have found it to be a real let down.
I will sign-up as soon as the new game is ready.

Do you do the programming? I'm curious what your skill set is to do what you do around here.
