Interested in joining a private league

January 12, 2004 at 03:27PM View BBCode

I played my 1st single season (short) league and I am impressed with the game mechanics. 44% of the teams were "dead" though, so I want to try a more active league environment. I am sure I will make lots of mistakes as I learn but I will be active. If I don't join a private league I will definately join a dynasty league. Since I am a newbie, let me know if anyone has any advice about joining a private league.

Right now there aren't any private leagues forming -- we're waiting until after dynasty league signups are over. If you're interested in a dynasty league, sign-ups will begin in a few days -- Tyson has posted a schedule in the Latest News forum.

As for advice:

1. Read the rule book
2. Read the message board forums -- particularly Q&A
3. Control is more important the velocity for pitchers
4. Power is more important than contact for hitters
5. Hitting vs. RHP is more important than hitting vs. LHP
6. Youth is important in an initial draft
7. Don't use the Best Available draft strategy
8. Read the rule book again

Good luck.

more than one league

Thanks for your quick reply.

I gather from reading some of the posts that it is possible to have more than one team, so I could sign up for a dynasty league and a private league?

Do the private/dynasty leagues have a history of maintaining active ownership?

Yes -- you can sign up for multiple teams (in different leagues). You will need a different screen name for each league. Private/Dynasty leagues almost always have active owners. It's rare for someone to pay for a league and then not pay attention.
