Wow - lose my best hitter to injury and immediately drop back-to-back games by 2-1 scores! Can't blame the pitchers! Counting the days until Jeter's return!

Well...the Yankees punch-less offense survived a 15 game D/L stint for their star SS Derek Jeter, never falling below a tie for 1st in the AL, thanks in large part to a 4 game losing streak by Baltimore's Gnats. In the Yanks "Game-of-the-Week", closer Mo Rivera blew an 8 inning Mike Mussina shut-out against Baltimore, allowing a two out game-tying solo homer to Gnats RF Benj Eckert in the bottom of the ninth. Rivera was bailed out by Yankees pinch hitter Ruben Sierra, whose 2 out, 2-run blast in the top of the 12th brought home the victory.[Edited on 2-1-2004 by bob12140]
