My name is Jeff

I live in Wimberley, Texas.

I grew up in Ithaca, NY.

I was born in Bangkok, Thailand (and spent a great deal of my childhood overseas).

I am 40.

My wife and I have two kids. A boy (7) and a girl (4). Being a DAD is amazing. My wife is a wonderful Mom, with a beautiful singing voice.

I coach and teach. I'm the head volleyball coach, assistant basketball coach, pitching coach on the softball team and I teach 9th grade World Geography.

I have been running the HPBL (a traditional fantasy league) since 1986.

I grew up playing strat-o-matic as a kid. A game that had a player card for each guy in the majors. You rolled the dice to see what the results were. My brother, my friend and I replayed the entire 1975 and 1979 MLB seasons. Every game for every team. We kept running stats (with paper & pencil) on every player. It took us about two years in a combined effort to play out an entire season of games and keep track of it all. We were obviously NUTTS!

I love sim-dynasty! I wanted to start this league, because now that I have been in a number of custom leagues (for a significant period of time), it has become clear that over long periods of time the game is too predictable.

Yes, the individual player in a given season shows acceptable variance, but in the long haul the big picture is too predictable. Play a 21 yr old in the majors for 5 seasons and he will be an ALL-STAR.

In our league (TCL) if you play the wrong 21 yr old for five seasons, he will get better but maybe not enough to be effective. We'll have to pay the most attention to preformance just like real life.

I think we may just revolutionize the very game we love.

My name is Drew
I am a 27 year old carpenter born and raised in Newport RI.

I am engaged and will be getting married in June(no kids).

I think what attracted me to SD the most was remembering the days when I was young, and every summer day that it rained outside, myself and a couple of buddies would sit in the house and play Pursue the Pennant for countless hours. That on top of the fact that I am a former baseball player and just love the game in general. I think this version of Sd will prove to be the way to go in future leagues and I am happy to be a part of it.

Howdy All,

Well from that greeting you may know already Im from a cow state.LOL Ok here we go. Oklahoma is the state.

My name is Clint
I have a georgeous wife but she wont let me send you guys any naked pics. hee hee We have a boy 9 and a little pretty 5 year old girl. I own a nationwide Tax and Accounting Company for Truckers. Im now 45 years old and looking forward to my 21st birthday. Oh my I wish.

I love fantasy baseball but of coarse you know Im new to the Dynasty Sim. However, I have played the famous Baseball Manager fantasy since its start on the old prodigy.com. I do have a great knowledge of baseball and won my league championships 10 times in a tough league that all the managers have stayed together for over 12 years now. This is different so you guys dont beat up on me too bad at first LOL. Let me get the hang of it all and I shall give you guys some competition anyway.

I appreciate the opportunity to play Dynasty with you guys and am looking forward to a great experience.

Thanks All,

My name is Matt.

I'm 37 years old.

Live in Orange County, CA.

Married with an 18 yr old step daughter and 10 year old daughter.

I coach youth sports and still compete in some as my hobbies. I'm a sport fanatic.

I used to play the old APBA football game. I ran a 16 team keeper league for about 12 years. We played every season from 1970 to 1992. We had drafts every year. All-Pro voting. We kept extensive stats. All paper and pencil. It was alot of fun.

I'm here because I think this is the way the game should be with a little less exactness. I think roto has turned baseball into a numbers game, but those that know the game know that it is more a game of feel.

I'm looking forward to competing with you all.

My name is Griff.

Live in Milton, Florida.

I also grew up in Ithaca, NY (yes Jeff and I have know each other for some 30ish odd years, neighborhood mates), don't hold that against him.

I am 37.

My wife and I have been happily married for 15yrs. this June. We have a 12yr. old daughter(who loves Orlando Bloom/Leglos), 4yr. old twin boys(all boys, and love Star Wars), socks the dog, dutches the cat, and a rather large oscar fish that the boys named Oscar:)

I love soccer:spin::spin::spin::spin: Watch it every chance that I get. Played from early elementary school days through college........and rather regularly until my twin sons were born, and playing again now with my boys.

Have coached my daughters soccer team for several years now, and now my twin sons team as well. And loving every momment of it. There is nothing more special than being a father! It is great!

I am a stay at home dad. I am involved in the PPOM(Pensacola Parents Of Multiples), as well as Church and Church related funtions.

I am excited to be a part of this "New Era" of Sim Dynasty. The idea of taking away the + or - and the knowing of what level of development the players are at is something that I feel needs to be done to make it more realistic. Not so predictable. But more challenging, and hopefully more fun for all.

Best of luck to all.........

Griff

It's interesting to see what a diverse group we are, so here goes:

My name is Jason. I'm 33 and live in Riverside, CA, about 50 miles east of Los Angeles. I grew up in LA, attended college in Philadelphia and spent a year abroad in London as well.

I work as a copy editor and page designer for a daily newspaper in the Sports department. I used to be a sportswriter but moved into editing full-time when I moved to a large paper about 6 years ago.

I have been married for almost 3 years and have a 10-year-old stepson and an 18-month-old son. I take care of my son during the day generally while my wife works, and I work evenings. It's a wonderful experience getting to raise him, but it sure does wear you out.

I am currently enrolled in an MBA program, taking classes one night a week. I just started in January, and I'll be finishing in Oct. 2005. Where that leads me is uncertain, but I look forward to having some flexibility to change careers and gain some upward mobility.

Sports have been a huge part of my life since I was young, although I've always been much more interested in replay-style games than anything. I spent a lot of my childhood replaying seasons with Statis-Pro Baseball, an excellent board game (kind of like Strat-o-Matic and APBA) that showed you how to make your own player cards to do different seasons. It took me 10 years to replay the 1982 National League season one game at a time by myself, although I slowed down an awful lot once I graduated high school (it took me about 5 years to get through September ...).

I spent a little more than a year playing ESPN Classic Fantasy Baseball and the online Strat-o-Matic game before discovering Sim Dynasty. Not only was the price a lot better, but the game is more intriguing to me. I went immediately into a Dynasty League (Mickey Mantle) and later joined the first private league, the Jackie Robinson League. I left that after the first 20 years (finally earning my first titles in 1967 and 1969 after four WS losses) because I didn't have enough time to devote to it with my child-rearing, schoolwork and full-time job and all. But I couldn't resist this league's novelty because the game eventually gets too predictable otherwise. I'm pretty busy these days, but I think I can get on here enough to guide my team pretty well.

I'm looking forward to getting started and getting to know some of you more over the seasons.

April 02, 2004 at 06:29PM View BBCode

My name is Adoniram Lipton. I'm originally from New York and various other northeastern localities but I now live in Austin, TX.

I am 24 years old and very happily married with a six month old baby named Isaac. My wife, Elizabeth, teaches Art and Drama at a private school here in Austin. I teach private music lessons by day while writing and performing with my band Slowtrain by night.

If you're ever coming through Austin, come check out a show and introduce yourself to me afterwards... I'm looking to make some moves for a starting pitcher or some genuine prospects. ;) Slowtrain.com has all the relevant details on the band.

I've been a Mets fan my whole life. I think they brought Jose Reyes up to early. He's only 20 and would probably get more improves in the minors with 5 CPs on him, especially since he has D- health and isn't gonna get enough at bats. I tried to explain this to Jim Duquette in a letter but got no response.

I started getting into stats based simulations playing APBA with my dad (both boardgame and very early PC versions). Only recently have I discovered Sim Dynasty and it's a dream come true in many ways. Of course the game could be better in some ways, but I think that it will continue to improve. Regardless, I'll be here playing one way or the other.

Good luck to all.

Hello everybody! My name is Sal (a.k.a dogbelly) and I'm taking over the Baltimore team.

I live near Magnolia, Texas where I work as a Quality Assurance Consultant. What I do is inspect and qualify oil field drilling, production and transmission equipment. I'm the guy who makes sure nothing twists-off, blows up or comes flying loose. I travel a whole lot.

I'm 52, married w/ two children and a dog named King. I was born in Brooklyn, NY but came to Texas as soon as I was able to afford a bus ticket.

My wife and I have been married for 32 years and for 32 years I've been trying to teach her about baseball. Her big question to me is...why do they wear those kind of pants....if I could ever get passed that, I might make some progress with her.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to being part of this league and can't wait to get started.

Gents,

I'm the new newby. Name is Rob and I'm 37 years old. I've been married for 10 years. I live in St. Louis and I'm in Pharmaceutical sales. Yes, I'm the reason drugs cost so much (don't get me started).

Graduated from West Point and spent time in the army--luckily I was smart enough to get out (about 30 lbs ago).

I too played Strat-O and kept stats by hand growing up. Played and grad assistant in football in college but baseball has always been my love.

Huge, long suffering Tribe fan (grew up in Cleveland).

I feel like I'm behind the 8-ball in this league, but I love the idea of it being more about evaluating talent and less about "accounting".

Any hints or subtleties about this format would be much appreciated.
