Tyson Watch 2010

January 10, 2010 at 01:43AM View BBCode

Did I just read the NFL Playoff thread right? Tyson Lowery is a resident of California?

Yup. I now have a reason to get out and bother people again. To meet the founder of this website.

(At least until I float out in May.)

Yeah, he just moved there within the last six months from Minnesota, if I'm not mistaken.

Wow, we are really close Lou. I'm in Carlsbad. Are you at Camp Pendleton?

Holy crap, Carlsbad. Yes, I'm at Camp Pendleton. I do the Carlsbad crawl every couple of months! (With a soon-to-be fiancee, I realized I gotta cool the drinking a bit. That Carlsbad crawl thing WAS an "every paycheck" deal.)

There aren't many weekends where I won't be caught at some point gallivanting around Carlsbad Village, trying to keep up with the music bloggers at OWY by shopping for stuff at Spin Records. Or having breakfast at the Grand Deli. If you can't tell, I try to get as far away from base as I can on the weekends.

If you haven't had Vigilucci's Seafood and Steakhouse at the corner of Tamarack and Carlsbad Blvd, I highly recommend it. GAWD I love this part of North County.

I'll have to check out Vigilucci's, I can walk there from the house we're renting. I haven't been to Grand Delis.

Have you been to Senor Grubby's? My Mexican buddy recommended it, even though it is basically bar food, its pretty good cheap food.

Haven't been there- stumbled by it several times, though. In that area, Submarina and the Pita Pit, coupled with the tavern-style restaurant right behind Submarina are the places I have frequented in the past year.

And Flippin' Pizza right across from Starbucks. $6 for two slices of pizza and a soda. Living on a budget teaches one to learn where to find the deals- too bad I'm not much of a shopper, just an eater, or I'd have more info on the places to get good stuff.

Car trouble, though... I got my brakes done over the holidays by City Automotive in Oceanside, a few minutes up the road.

Senor Grubby's is phenomenal for a budget :) You should check it out.

I have been to that seafood restaurant actually. It was the first week we lived here so I couldn't remember the name. We live about a mile inland from that place.

Well that's neat, I'm in La Jolla, going to School at UCSD. It's not as close as Carlsbad, but still pretty near. With the exception of the beaches, I don't know too much about anything near me, it's all pretty out of my price range.

The Browns Backers Bar is in La Jolla, that's about all I know down that way so far :)
