Now I voted gay, but I want to change my vote. Look at the beard and the rampant body hair. No gay would go in public like that.

Youppi is not gay. Actually the rumor among mascots is that Paws (the Tigers mascot) is having issues with his masculinity. He just can't keep his paws to himself. Or maybe it's just a desperate attempt to make people care about a team that lost 119 games last year.

i voted not gay. Despite being in canada, which almost automatically makes me think "gay" he couldnt be gay, because he is wearing an expos jersey. Not very stylish now is it?

NO WAY. Gay guys wear tight clothes that are trendy, and keep their hair in order. Also they dont like sports, and they would NEVER walk around with no pants on. Straight guys go streaking.

But since my post dealt ENTIRELY with the stereotypical side of this issue, I would have to say that happy makes a good point. Youppi! doesn't fit the profile. Except for the fact that his name is Youppi!

I think a lot of times the stereotype is self-fulfilling. Gay guys see it all over TV and start to emulate it, I would think in part to help develop some sense of cultural identity once they realize they're different from 95% of everybody else. There may be something to this whole "gay guys are effeminate" thing, but my gut tells me it's more of a self-fullfilling myth than anything else.But since my post dealt ENTIRELY with the stereotypical side of this issue, I would have to say that happy makes a good point. It takes a real man to put up with all the abuse we Browns fans put up with. I know how Bengals fans feel now. And the Expo mascot is not gay either. He has Browns orange hair.

One thing to consider. gay people have high voices (the sole reason why in general gay people piss me off) and since Youppi! doesnt talk, maybe his voice is just so high that we cant hear it (of course it could be really low too)
