shorten the off season

May 13, 2010 at 08:33PM View BBCode

Dynasty League off seasons are excruciatingly long. Can we shorten it by a day or two? Do we really need two or three days after the OS changes before the draft? One day would be more than plenty.

for existing owners, sure. but new owners need to be moved in and they need to be given time to evaluate the ammy draft. changes to the game need to be moved into place sitewide. databases needs to be cleared and whatnot. there's a lot more going on in a dynasty off-season than in a private league off-season.

We pack less into the offseason than we once did, we no longer clear out the database during this time.

The other thing is that we rely on the consistent 2 month cycles. This ensures none of these events happen during a holiday, for one.

Also, many events are auto-scheduled on the server with this in mind. For instance, dynasty league playoffs are scheduled to run from the 8th to 12th during odd numbered months. The season start script is scheduled to run on the 16th of odd numbered months.

If many in your league feel this way, I'd encourage you to contact us about converting your league into a Speed league - particularly if you want to play more than 3 games per day.

i play only in dynasty leagues and i like the length of the offseason. it is long but the length in time only allows the anticipation to build, gives us time to evaluate the draft and the upcoming season, explore trades, etc. On opening day, dynasty vision looks fresh and new again. my idea to shorten the offseason was to spread out the playoff series (serieses?) over two days instead of one. This would only actually shorten the offseason for 4 teams but at least there would be some action to check out but I don't think this would comply with all the database backup stuff that goes on that I know nothing about even though I work at a software company. anyway i wouldn't complain if the offseason was shortened but just wanted to say im happy the way things are. thanks everyone for listening.

would switching to Speed league format change our seasonal fees? or would they stay the same? This off-season is brutally long.
