Worst. Trade. Ever.

What was a case of a buyers market and taking the best I could get turned into a super bummer in retrospect:
A trade has been completed between the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants. The San Francisco Giants receive Jake Giebell, Don Fitzgerald from the New York Mets in exchange for Billy Hepler.
Now, Giebell is no spring chicken, but dude provided a decent half season in SF. Fitzgerald was originally considered a lesser prospect but now stands at 52 overall with better or almost the same hitting ratings and is a year younger. Hopefully Hepler is an enigma, but what a bummer...Hepler had a meager 19/71 total IC conversion last year in which he went 2 for 18 vs RHP while Fitzgerald received 19 total CVR/PVR improves.
At least Hepler can play (a little) defense?
So to recap...a WS MVP candidate (3 HR, 9 RBI, .440 avg, also drove in the winning run in Game 7 of the WS) from Giebell plus a better and younger prospect! Nice trade SF...some people stood pat and got passed as you stepped up to pick up Giebell and Johnson, Scioscia, and Nixon - who scored the Game 7 tying run in the bottom of the 8th and then got injured in possibly the best injury ever. I have no doubt he got some rare high-fiving injury. Possibly even a pie-in-the-face injury.

Just goes to show, if you want to win, an active approach pays off...especially in this league where we have variable development.
