'74/'75 OS Rundown

Does anyone want to post their OS success or demise stories? Here is how I see it:
Young Studs Section
-------------
- Roxie Infante of NYN goes 19/40 (wish I got him more chances!!!) and suddenly is looking studly with a 62/80 split. One more like that and he's a rock solid RP.
- A pair of Brooklyn hitters cracked the 40 improve mark which is always impressive. 41 for Mike Becker and 44 for Charlie Pierson. I don't expect much from Becker but Pierson should be a force.
Young Duds Section
------------------
- Cincy's Eric Bratschi was a brat - big time stinker for a promising player in his final prime improve year with 7 improves.
- Hard to complain about Haddie Sheehan's ratings, but at 25 you'd hope for more than just one endurance improve.
- Baltimore - nothing good there at all...ABE is mad. Paul Grace was a disgrace in his OS training. Same for catcher Andre Estes. Ricky Veselic lost a lot of control, which was his calling card. He might be an ordinary pitcher now...Fireman Bill Weidman got a -6 on velocity which will factor in, but he's still a gem.
- Ed Marnie of Seattle gets a thumbs down, though SEA can't be too bummed as there were a lot of nice (not amazing) OS's that will set them up well.
- In Atlanta, they really got lazy in the IF...Eric Jones and Chuck Sawatski, both OS 26, combined for 17 improves. Toughen up!
- Brooklyn must be fuming with Marcelino Curd (again) as that's back to back seasons (24 and 25) with 0 improves...and you were mad at your SP! Curd is apparently an enigma - he was outstanding in the minors but since coming up has 0 improves in the bigs. Awful!
Legends Section
------------
- Archie Rosario of CHN had a rough one, and we can safely bet now that he won't be reaching 300 wins (was a long shot anyways). He went -14 with key declines in velocity as well as control.
- Shane Bovee of CLE also had a rough one - he and Rosario are two of the current greats and looks like their days of dominance might be over. Both will still win more than they lose and should be around the 4.00-4.50 ERA mark though.
- Another OS, another year of Bill Buddie (NYN) and Bobby Shawkey (CHN) laughing it up into their 40's.
- Buddie had 12 declines at age 40 but half of those were speed (don't care) and only a couple CVR/PVR declines. He will soon be the all-time HR leader (1 behind Gonzo) and should be able to extend his lead over Shawkey a bit as well.
- Shawkey is the more incredible story though. He finally had his worst OS ever with 17 declines, but 10 of those were between arm and speed, and 5 of the rest were PVL, so that's about the best you can hope for. He even did some extra pushups and had one PVR improvement, what a joke. Last year at age 42, Shawkey actually improved his career batting average by hitting .300 (career .296 avg).
I guess the writing is on the wall, but its still pretty small. I wouldnt be surprised to see Shawkey be productive this season and next still. Buddie will be fine this year, I think compared to other players with similar ratings he underperformed last season so I expect he'll easily hit 20 HR and around .260. Good enough for me to keep playing him. He is probably at higher risk of declines because his CVR is quite low compared to Shawkey who has much more balanced ratings. Shawkey is at 499 HR and leads in most other offensive categories. HR should be the one area he won't be the all-time leader.
- Jerry Herrman of NYN took big declines by number but they were mostly in speed. He will continue on his assault at 500 HR.

Bobby Shawkey was in talks with Chicago management this offseason and came back for a few reasons:
1. He sits at 499 Homeruns and wants to reach the 500 plateau.
2. Chicago is still in good position to make the playoffs and get back to the Series this year.
3. The Cubs promised him the starting LF job
CW, I think you are correct that Shawkey will continue to be productive this year and possibly next as well. He won't lead the league in HR when he finally hangs it up, but he's okay with just getting to 500. Rosario wouldn't surprise me if he had an offseason next year like the one he had last year where he declined hardly at all. At least, that's what I'm hoping for.

Wow no luck for him no matter where he is - majors or minors

I've got the worst luck developing pitchers, sadly.
Exact opposite of our real-life counterparts. If I could have the real A's pitching, and they let me build their offense, it'd be a lovely mutual deal
