Looks like the biggest upset in Sim D history

August 06, 2011 at 04:40PM View BBCode

Not only did the Colts have a 20 game lead over their playoff opponent and a 14 - 10 record against them in the regular season but also had this years Cy Young (Thomas), MVP (Fuhrman), Fireman (McGraw) award winners, plus the team had several league leaders , Batting - Homerun (Patton), RBI (Patton), Runs (Vangilder), Pitching - Wins (Thomas). 8 all stars. As well the Colts lead the league in Homers, RBI, Runs.

All of that and it looks like we will be swept out of the playoffs.

Congrats Baltimore ABE has shined on you.

My St. Louis Pioneers beat a team that won 35 more games than me in the WS.

Once the playoffs start, all regular season records are thrown out the window w/ Abe apparently....but wow, definitely stunning that the middle of the pack Baltimore pitching staff pitched 3 shutouts against the 2nd ranked Colts.

Wouldn't call it the biggest upset - obviously win and stat totals are largely helped with the two 100 loss teams in the division - but definitely decisive considering Baltimore wasn't even in playoff position until September.

I once got swept by a team I went something like 18-something head to head and I finished 30 something games ahead of them.

Happens all the time, it still hurts like hell, but it does happen often. Sorry you had to experience it though.

I am not basing "Biggest Upset" on the win total of the Colts = 113 or the 20 game lead but combine that with the fact that the Colts like I said had the MVP, CY YOUNG , FIREMAN, HOMERUN , RBI, RUN Leaders, had a winning record against the Baltimore team, The Colts team lead the league in Homers, RBI, Runs, ranked 2nd in offense, plus after all of that they were also the defending Champs. I don't know to me it doesn't get much bigger then that.

lol I could care less I won it all last season when I thought my team was going to lose so this just evens it up lol and I just thought the arguments put forward against it were lacking, just going by the games lead in the standings and not counting MVP's etc on the team. I had a team that beat another team who also was 30 - 35 game ahead in the standings but the team I beat did not have all of the award winners on it.

It just goes to show you how !@#$% ABE is. I own 4 teams and the Colts and another team of mine made the playoffs. Out of my two teams that made the playoffs obviously the Colts you would think would have made it to the world series and my other team in the other league was the under dog and you would think they would have lost but instead the opposite happens, this team loses and my other team wins when they should not have.

Okay then ABE is responsible for your WS win not you last year by your rational?

Give Baltimore the credit they deserve for their team, find peace in the fact the favorite doesn't always win in sports and know you put a good team together but they ran into a hot team in the playoffs...

Not sure what else can be said.

Well said Stros...awards are all a crap shoot anyway...Riske should have won FireMan and Bianco was more valuable to his team ;)

At the end of the day its a game and there are 16 people playing in each league. Obviously each season one person will be happy with the final result and 15 won't...it's a simulation and not 100% predictable (which would ruin the fun anyways) so you take it as it comes and give it another shot next time around.

No one is going to feel too bad as you just won last year. Sorry you didn't win but Baltimore deserves credit as well. The only time I feel I have a legitimate gripe is when I dominate the regular season and get swept in the LCS - that pisses me off to no end and has happened more times than I care to admit. I call BS on that from time to time but it still happens. You didn't get swept and it just wasn't your year.

Congrats Baltimore. Old man Veselic and Weidman transactions paid off for you double so you got more out of them than I did...I just managed 1 ring and I had a LONG time of success/contending in the NL but little to show for it! We can't all be Seattle with 6 rings. Lots of good owners with only 2 rings each here. Gotta love the parity (in my opinion)
