More frustration on the South Side

September 09, 2011 at 02:22AM View BBCode

The Catch have averaged 99 wins over the last three seasons but have failed to make the post-season each of those seasons.  Their playoff drought has now extended to 11 seasons, which has a lot of South Side fans very frustrated.

Chicago front office attempted to advance the team this year with the additions of Jack Muich and Ken Kotsay, but to no avail. The results were the same and the Catch once again found themselves looking up at the Salseros and Monsters after 162 games.

That same front office will enter this offseason wondering what else must be done to push this team over the hump.

Talk about frustration! I just lost the ALCS for the 6th time in 7 seasons. ABE is just not kind sometimes, even to the most well equiped teams. Arrrggg!

Yeah, this stretch for the Washington/Minnesota franchise is ridiculous. I cannot deny that they have had an incredible team for many of the past 10 seasons, but not to the point to win 9 titles in 10 years. Based on all of my SD experience and seeing upsets in the post-season, it is almost impossible for the Salseros or other teams like Philly not to have won some of these series.

In the Brett Butler League, the New York Navigators are the strongest franchise and have won 12 world titles in the first 43 years of the league (same duration as this JRL). However, they have accomplished that in 27 trips to the playoffs and 18 trips to the WS. The Washington/Minnesota franchise in JRL has 13 world titles in only 19 playoff trips and only 14 WS trips!! That's a little unreasonable.

Easily the most incredible run I have ever seen in SD, but ABE has certainly aided this team a bit too much in my humble opinion.

Still, congrats to dkcarter on another championship.;)

I have to agree. This is really getting ridiculous, with all due respect to the new MIN owner. Congrats anyways.

C'mon ABE, throw somebody else a bone. LOL

Congrats Minesotta! Hope the off season hits your veterans hard. :)

Honestly though, its much more easier to watch you win the title than the evil devil that had the team before you.

Feeling another 100 win third place finish coming on for the Catch. Minnesota won't lose and the Salseros are red hot. Here we go again

Not so fast! After your Salseros nearly swept us, we dropped 2 of 3 to Boston at home and lost our All-Star closer for the season. We now have a mere 4 game lead in the wildcard race, which is not enough to support a September swoon like the ones we've had the last two seasons.

Relax Tpaynter,

I Have to face two though teams in Minnesotta and Detroit for the next 5 games while you take on the leagues 2 worst teams. I already dropped game one and now trail you by 2 games. Your destiny is in your hands.

That it is in my hands is what worries me :D

My bullpen has been censored since Johnson went down. We have lost 3 out of the last 5 games by surrendering runs in the 7th and after and those games have been against LA and Seattle, so it doesn't seem to matter who we are playing.

Thanks Cheo! I will give it my best shot. You had another great season by the way. ABE probably didn't do you many favors since you actually finished with a much higher pyth % than I did. Maybe he felt bad for me after so many near misses.

Our head-to-head record against Minnesota is 12-12, so we have a shot. It will come down to my pitching staff against his offense. If we can stop them a few games, I think we can pull it out. That franchise's luck is due to change right?

Game 1: 14-1 Minnesota. Not exactly the start my pitching staff was looking for :(
