Future hall-of-famer Joe Bianco has had a remarkable year at the ripe old age of 41OS.
At the beginning of the year, I was content on letting him sit out the year and fade into retirement, after a couple of lean hitting years, and my reluctance on pushing guys past their limit just to gain some extra stats. We were resigned that Bianco would sadly fall slightly short of 500 HRs for his career.
However, he has silenced such talk with a wonderful season. To this point he has blasted 25 homeruns, and 91 RBIs at a robust .296 batting average, helping propel Oakland to a comfortable position after we initially thought this would be the beginning of a re-build. As a result, he currently sits at 492 homeruns, and I intend on bringing him back next year to chase the 500. He will be given a rest for the remainder of the regular season to avoid injury, so the chase will begin once again next season.
I think it's pretty cool to see Bianco put up some of the best seasons of his career
after decline set in. He led the league in RBIs in his OS36 and 37 seasons, and has bounced back strong this season, at 41. If the season ended today, he'd be 8th in RBIs.

Funny that he has 12 stolen base attempts with a 42 speed. Amazing that he has been successful on half of those!
