I like the idea of a 32 team league. Yes I know the majors has 30. But allow some relocated teams's old cities to be available. For example, add Philadelphia and Washington as AL cities and the AL could have 16 teams. Remember the A's once were in Philly and both the twins and rangers were once in Washington. Then couldn't the code required be duplicated? Wouldnt it be just 2 leagues in one? The draft code creator would be a duplicate of what it is now. The big issue would be the extra round of playoffs and the code involved on that. The draft order and waiver wire order would need to be tweaked. I disagree with folks that say this would not be popular this would be, I believe ppl would be diving over each to get into this. If announced and promoted, those 32 teams would be gone within a day. Can you imagine the glory of winning a world series over 31 other owners. I know of several owners from my league that would join in a heart beat.May 15, 2012 at 03:29PM View BBCode
I love the idea of making it a more modeern day game with the full 30 team compliment available.May 18, 2012 at 06:52PM View BBCode
I always thought that a 32 team league could run like a major league team + a AAA team with an owner having one AL or NL team in the majors and a team in the opposite league in the minors. Much like the OCL, an entire league gets promoted to the majors for a day and unlimited trading can occur between an owner's major league team and its minor league affliliate. This would create a need for an extra day during the OS to allow for.May 22, 2012 at 11:17PM View BBCode
I would just rather have a straight 30 team league (or 32 if you must). No need for any of these other gimmicks.June 07, 2012 at 06:11AM View BBCode
In the spirit of the OCL I would like to see a four level league where every owner controls 4 teams. One Major League one AAA, one AA, and one A. Owners would have the ability to trade within all four levels and conversions would be age appropriate. I would also favor an age cap for the AAA, AA and A squads with a flat mentoring score of C+, and do away with the minor league system as it stands (for this type of league of course, not sitewide). Players would convert most effectively at the proper levels 18-19OS at A ball, 20-21OS at AA ball, 22-23OS at AAA and 24+ in the bigs, so you can bring your "prospects" along and the others can wash out along the way, just like in real life. Expand the draft to 20 rounds to effectively stock the league and don't let waiver wire fodder sit there for more than 2 years.June 15, 2012 at 11:17PM View BBCode
