I think it would be beneficial in salary leagues if you could set the max cap you would like to spend on pitchers and hitters separately during free agency. For example, there are times when maybe I only want to sign one hitter, but have 5-6 players I would be ok with. I'd like to bid on all of them and then stop bidding if I sign one. But I want to continue to bid on pitchers, so using the max salary tool doesn't help. If we could separate these a little bit I think it would be more useful and would allow everyone to be more efficient in free agency.August 23, 2012 at 03:04PM View BBCode
or, you could be allowed to assign a priority to all the free agents you assign a bid too. a simple 1 to whatever ranking. the thing would sign your highest rated player (that agreed to sign and you won the bidding for whatever reason of course) and so on, and stop signing them (any of them) when you got to the maximum salary you set.August 23, 2012 at 03:09PM View BBCode
(i mean, just right off hand, i can even tell you why my idea won't fly. somebody would have the highest bid for its number one choice, but Mr. Number One Choice wouldn't sign for whatever reason. number two choice gets signed, but, inevitably, the bidder would say, "No, forget that, i want a way to reject signing my number two choice on the first day so i can bid on my Number One Choice again on the second day because My Number One Choice is so Unbelievably Awesome I Also Want to Bid on It the Third Day Too.)August 24, 2012 at 12:32AM View BBCode
Well, plus it wouldn't really help the scenario I mentioned above. It doesn't really matter the order I sign guys in, sometimes I only want 1 at a position. Really there are much better ways to accomplish it than what I proposed, but they would all be more complicated. Simply setting a cap for pitchers and or hitters in addition to the overall cap seems like a simple way with no drawbacks (if you don't like it, you can simply not use it).September 06, 2012 at 01:00PM View BBCode
