Any thoughts...

...on the season, your team or another?
I haven't played the SD football since it first popped up but I'm back for another stab at it.
I own the Toledo Maroons, 2-2 preseason and a winner in week 1. Not embarrassing myself yet but there's still plenty of time.
Still trying to figure out the best lineup - esp on the offensive line, running back and safety.
I'm sitting on a couple FB types that list their best roles as tackles with nice red letter blocking. Anyone else have any luck playing a good blocking back on the O'line?

Undefeated season went bye-bye.
3rd and long on the 35 going in with less than a minute to go in a one point game and we decide to throw a long interception instead of getting a couple yards and kicking a field goal at home.
This was after my A+ accuracy QB couldn't hook up with my sure handed TE on 1st or 2nd down.
Lots on inexplicable plays in this game - but the last drive sure deviated from the way the season has gone so far for the Maroons.

Joe Kaplanoff runs up the right for a 1 yard loss.
Doug Settles (QB, TOL) has suffered a shoulder joint injury (15 days); he will not return today.
...My QB blows out a shoulder on a handoff?!?
Weird stuff...not only do my WR have more holding penalties than my entire offensive line, and one of my DT got nailed with an illegal use of hands penalty today, but injuries have been unbelievable recently.
47 injuries this year. Toldeo has 5, all in the last four games...about one in ten overall...not ridiculous but more than our fair share in a 16 team league.
But of injuries longer than 15 days (2 games) Toledo has 5 of 18...astronomical.
top rated QB in the league...11/26/1961 Doug Settles of the Toledo Maroons is injured with a shoulder joint injury and is expected to be out for approximately 15 days.
best DL in the league...11/12/1961 Johnny Kelley of the Toledo Maroons is injured with a shoulder muscle strain and is expected to be out for approximately 15 days.
best WR on team, leaderboard in yards receiving...11/12/1961 Franklin Shy of the Toledo Maroons is injured with a shoulder muscle strain and is expected to be out for approximately 16 days.
11/5/1961 Phil Crumpler of the Toledo Maroons is injured with a partial MCL tear and is expected to be out for approximately 37 days.
best DT on team...10/29/1961 Walt Carrington of the Toledo Maroons is injured with an ankle ligament sprain and is expected to be out for approximately 30 days.
The Maroons are starting to look like a replacement team...

This will make the postseason interesting....
12-31-1961 Doug Settles of the Toledo Maroons is injured with a shoulder ligament sprain and is expected to be out for approximately 28 days.
Second injury this season - "A" health. lovely.
Just looking to play a half with the starters then yank em for reserves and the QB decides to:
1st and 10 for the Maroons, they huddle and line up in a Pro Set; the Bulls line up in a 4-3.
Doug Settles takes the snap and keeps the ball.
Doug Settles runs up the middle for a 4 yard gain.
Doug Settles (QB, TOL) has suffered a shoulder ligament sprain (28 days); he will not return today....or for another month!
Penalties and injuries...can't believe I'm sitting on 13 wins.

Wow that AFC Championship game sucked. 13 injuries...13!?! 7 for Toledo and 6 for Jacksonvile. I had nothing left to play with. At one point, All 4 DL and 2 of my starting LB were out of the game with DBs playing the line....are you kidding me?
My QB was already gone.
My best two linebackers go down.
My best defensive end goes down - twice.
My best DT goes down.
And then Jacksonville returns a punt for a TD. ZERO punt return TDs in the regular season. ZERO in the preseason...and a guy from Florida returns one in a below zero blizzard ice bowl championship game? 6.1 yards per punt return allowed by Toledo this season. Best in the league...and they give up a punt return TD?
All while my QB goes 14-37 and throws more as the game goes on despite the fact I increasingly tilted my play selection towards running each quarter.
Good luck Jacksonville and Ahaheim.

Well, new season. Set my play selection; drafted blockers and RBs--my 180 weighted QB got me something like the 4th best QB. I come back today, I'm 12-2 having paid no further attention. Best Completion percentage ~66 for smallest average gain. Running game uninspired. Most important--only 2 ints against in 14 games. Best defense in league; go figure. Maybe I benefitted from the fact that I did draft and was up against a lot of 100 across the board guys? No idea. Strange. I do see somebody managing 300+ yards passing a game and a godzillion points.
