Proposed league rules

March 08, 2013 at 10:08PM View BBCode

Looks like we will be able to move forward with this concept. We need to settle on the rules for the league.

The JFL will remain as a "BLIND" league (no visible +/- ratings and hidden improves).

The league will consist of 8 owners each operating one major league team and one AAA affiliate. Four AL teams and four NL teams will be designated as the major league franchise and the remaining teams will be designated as the AAA affiliates. An owner must have one AL team and one NL team. Unlimited trading will be allowed between an owners two teams.

The league will use minor league development system 5 (CP ranking 1-15)

The league will not use Variable Development.

The league will use injury system 2 (More batter injuries than pitcher injuries, penalty for pitcher overuse).

The league will use retirement system 2 (Dependent soley on playing time).

The league will use mentoring system 2 (More closely tied to real player value).

The league will use team mentoring system 2 (More emphasis on number of mentors in starting lineup, no upper cap).

Winning percentage modifier will be off.

The league will also continue with no minimum catcher requirements.

No C rated player over the age of OS 23 will be allowed on a major league or AAA 25 man roster.

If everyone committed to continue playing in the league under the new concept is agreeable to these rules we can proceed forward. If You want to adopt a differnet rule then I can create a poll and have the returning members vote on adopting the rule change.

We need to have everyone either sign off on adopting these league rules or to vote on any paticular change that you might want.

Thanks,

JIM

Just noticed I have $30 in credits on this site. So I guess I could pick up the Oakland/Kansas City franchise and run that and St. Louis for 4 seasons and see if I like the new format.

So St. Louis votes Yes!

Seriously I guess I am in. How do we know which team we will be picking up from the other league.

Looks like everyone got a little something they wanted but no one got everything they wanted. I guess that's how it ought to be ;)

i vote yes except need an explanation on this rule:
No C rated player over the age of OS 23 will be allowed on a major league or AAA 25 man roster.

If this is the case then why even have C rated or lower players 23 or older in a draft or free agency??

This is an anti-tanking rule. If they are OS 24 or older, chances are that they will never develop into a contributing player. The only reason they would be on a 25 man roster is for tanking purposes. Better players than that are always on the WW or can easily be traded for.

I do my best not to draft an OS 24 or older player that is C rated. If I do draft one, most likely they get waived ASAP. Don't want to wastes precious ICs on that type of player.
