Available cities...

Would it be a good idea to have more cities available?

I know that the cities available had at one point in time a professional football team of some sort, but after all they don't seem "realistic" anyway.
So, I wouldn't think that including a city that never has had a professional football team should be discarded as "unrealistic".

I'm not sure if international cities/places would be accepted by the majority of owners, but I for one would love to see that, regardless of practical reasons like traveling distances, etc...
In the Sim world teams should be able to play in NY this weekend and the next one in Tokio or Sidney or Istambul.

I'm not sure how that would affect the weather module, if that would require some extra work or if it would be easy to implement.

TL;DR:
Have more cities available to play, including international places.

You hit on the answer, international cities won't fit in the existing weather model. I could write a European weather model but it would have to come after some of the bigger fish to fry.

How about Mexican cities? :P

Very far northern Mexico is in the model but there is not much there. The only Mexican weather station in the current model is Hermosillo. The weather station just provides temperature data, though, I still have to research the location for rain/snowfall data and wind rose data. I had a good source for these for US and Canadian cities in the format I needed (the Canadian source is pretty limited so the weather isn't as accurate there), but I would have to research a source for Mexican data, or just make it up. And any cities I add without a football connection would not go into the default set, I'd add them to a tier that a league could request be added to their cities. (I was originally planing to do this with NFL Europe cities back before I built the realistic weather model; back then weather was fairly random, and you could have 72 degrees and sunny in LAN and 45 degrees and heavy rain in LAA.)

There are probably more Canadian cities with football connections that I could add

Actually I was only asking because I wanted Guadalajara (MEX) to be included (which is too far south for the weather model anyway), I just thought that asking for that was too selfish so I asked for any city in the world to be available.

Anyway, thanks for the explanation!

what if we found a city already in the current weather model that was "close" to the regular weather for some international cities? this is completely off the top of my head and may be completely the maybe PHO could double for some of the Mexican cities, Vancouver for London and so on. it might be a quick way around the weather model issue if people are interested in international cities.

Ottawa is getting their team back next year. Halifax has been bandied about semi-regularly as a potential expansion target and quebec is a huge hotbed of college and junior football so something like quebec city would work.

This could work.

Alternatevily (sp?) and probably a bit easier, would be to force international cities to have a dome, thus not worrying about the weather module at all.

What if you could pick the state and then just write-in your city.
