I got Jimmy Wendell from Detroit a few seasons back as I needed to try and add pieces to my atrocious bullpen. My bullpen is still atrocious, but at the ripe old age of 36 Jimmy Wendell took the fireman award. Funny thing is I had him closing the previous season and he became an all star for the first time and then at the start of this season I thought he was washed up and there was no way he would be able to close games as he lost some skill level so I put him at middle relief. Well, I put him back in at closer about 20 or so games in because the other guy wasn't getting the job done and he was stellar. I will say that 26 saves isn't all that impressive but I will take any awards I can get!January 10, 2014 at 12:18AM View BBCode

Sometimes those older guys perform longer than expected. I've think I've seen it more with hitters, but Wendell had a nice year...good stats across the board.Pages: 1
