the first paragraph is referencing the above game.
My team recovered a fumble in the end zone, and there was a penalty on Boston but somehow we didn't obtain possession of the ball.

It's because if there hadn't been a penalty it would have been a TD. once the ballcarrier gets into the end zone it's a TD and the play is over. Your choices weren't penalty or change of possession they were penalty or TD against.

dirtdevil is correct; there are still occasional circumstances that don't remove the "fumble" line once the plane is broken. Since the plane was broken the fumble is irrelevant.In the future, though, if you have a situation like this where you think there may be a bug in actually processing the play, feel free to post it in Support.
