Torch flame lighters

June 28, 2004 at 03:53AM View BBCode

Does anybody know the difference between a torch flame lighter with a green flame and one with a blue flame? My understanding is the blue flame is hotter but I'm not completely sure. If so do you think a blue flame is hot enough to melt metal? I've only had a green flame one and it was able to melt thin metal but not thick kind. For those who don't know what I'm talking about by torch flame lighter here's an ebay auction of one, you'll probably know what I'm talking about after seeing the pic.

Also, do you guys know any stores that sell cheap ones? I've seen them around the mall for over $50 but I know there are some that are only like $5(cheap looking but still work), I just dont know where to get one. Would walmart sell them?

I had a friend who had a butane lighter, real nice one too, with brass and silver accents, spiffy. Well he was filling his lighter with butane one night when he heard it hissing. It seems that the lighter wasn't holding the butane anymore, or he had overfilled it. So while he was fiddling with the lighter, trying to figure out if he could in anyway fix it, I went and got a heavy book and opened it in the middle. I waited until he had the lighter up to his ear, crept up behind him, and slammed the book shut behind him. BOOM! He was scared shitless since he thought the lighter blew up in his face and threw it across the room, screaming like a schoolgirl, it was classic... :lol:

:lol: They've been known to leak if you overfill them. Responsibility is key when dealing with anything flamable, which is why I always fill them up half way, just for safety.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

thats not very nice, nor is it intelligent. i could imagine him tossing it on the ground and stomping on it, until it really did explode. then you could really call him a flamer.
