A strange mystery performance.

The Desperadoe's John Perry has been a feared pass rusher the previous two seasons notching 23 and 18 sacks respectively. This season after ten games he has only 3...yes 3 sacks. And Dallas is running the same defense, with the same starting defensive lineman around him.
In fact if anything Perry and the players around him should all be better. \\
This is one of the strangest performances I have ever seen in this game.

In fact my whole defense is performing way under expectations. Only 7 interceptions versus 22 the season before. Way down on passes defensed. This despite the fact that my secondary is young and supposedlly improving. Only 40 sacks which is way off the 2nd in the league 74 pace from last season. (most of that is Perry's lack of production).
Playing the same base defense with changes made on a game by game basis versus specific teams too. Maybe I need to change it up but these are unbelievable drop offs for players in the their suppossed prime.

Even more mystifying is how my 3 corner backs I use starting and in the nickle have only 1 interception between them. 1!!!
Especiallly mystifying because two of them are A+ cover guys and the other one is a A cover guy. One of them is also A+ aggressiveness so he should definitley be going for interceptions. The three cornerbacks are also all A's in speed and jumping. Every attribute they should need need to be interception machines they have in spades.
Yet they have 1 interception between them???? If anyone can explain this I would love to hear it.

Can't really try to explain it because this is not my team so I don't know exactly what has changed from this season to last one, sometimes a small change in your team has a huge impact... back up players, depth charts, conditioning settings, game plan, skill decreasing...
Also, your rivals may be playing a bit different against you than they did last season. For instance the Hooligans have been a lot more successful this season than the last one, so your rivals probably are trying different things.
Also, your defense probably is performing better in terms of tackles (not measured), pressure (even if they don't sack the QB) and pass cover in general (QBs don't throwing their way so they don't get to intercept that much).
This means that your defense has improved except in the stats department, and like some coach say, the only stat that matter is the W/L column.

one thing though, I don't remember that aggressiveness has anything to do with going for interceptions, but I don't trust my memory too much, so probably it's true.

D-Linemen will have down years. Check this guy out, he averages over a sack a game for his career, but had an 8 sack year and bounced right back, Ive seen a lot of guys like that. DeQunicy Lane
You also have to remember that other guys are playing too. The NFC is strong (much stronger than the AFC) and everybody is getting better right now, that makes a difference. Youve played 4 of the other 5 least sacked teams in the league and your out of conference schedule has included teams that run more than they pass, KC, PHX. You are 3rd in points allowed and 2nd in differential. Those are the stats that really matter.
DB aggressiveness does make a difference and I personally luv aggressive DBīs and I think they get more picks but they get burned more too. Safeties usually get more picks anyway so what you are really interested in is comp %. If you are playing teams that throw short itīs also going to cut INTīs and when you have CBīs like yours they will force the QB to check down to shorter throws more often.
But thats a good thing because its very tough to dink and dunk your way down the field. There are so many factors, like sacks and penalties, that make it really hard to score if you dont make big plays.

I've had similar. I had a DE in anther league, had @60 sacks in 3 years. Then had 5 in year 4. Only change was the DE across from him went from good to, well, not so good. The DTs were the same, scheme was the same.
It seemed that AFE was able to pick him up with the FB/RB in the backfield more. Or at least thats my guess. As soon as I got a decent end across from him more, both sacks went up again as pressure was more even.
I've seen similar behavior in the past before, but that was the best example. As long as you have two decent end rushers, numbers are good. The second you have 1, no matter how much pressure you create from LBs and corners, it doesn't matter. Those damn pick up blocks get you every time.
