starting pitcher gives up 7 runs... in 0.1 innings!

On 5 walks and 3 hits my #1 starter gave up 7 runs in 0.1 innings:

Ouch!

With 8 or so pitchers in your minor league, do you think your 20 something year old pitcher will do better if you demote him with CP?

Probably, but I've already got 3 guys with 5 CP's each in the minor. All 3 are as young or younger with a better overall rating.

This is where the 15 CP limitation hurts. I've got too many young guys to develop so I'm forced to play them at the major league level.

Sorry about that, but my boys had just come off a very frustrating series with Milwaukee.

You're not running into any limitation with coaching points as long as you're only putting them on three guys. Putting 5 points each on 3 guys gives you the EXACT SAME RESULTS as putting 1 point each on 3 guys and letting the other 12 points sit and rot.

i thought this was how CP worked. (sorry if this is confusing)

The # of CPs (out of 15) that you put on a certain player determanes the percentage of times that player will be looked at for and improvement (ex. 1 CP= 1 0f 15 games). If you had one CP one 3 different players they would all have a 1/15 chance, and the rest of the players on your roster have a 12/15 of being "looked at" for an improvement.

So having 15 CPs or 100 wouldn't really change things. With 100 CPs you would be able to put a max of 33 on any givin player and he would still have a 33% chance of being "looked at", which is the same as his odds now with 5 CPs (5/15=33%)

I guess I disagree with the way the current system limits the # of players you can realistically grow. No matter how many points I have if I start with a young batch of players, there is no way to coach them all.

The current system benefits teams that start with talent and can afford to groom 3 prospects at the expense of the rest.

I'd really really like to see a true minor league system where all of the players have a chance to grow based on their playing time (and maybe a little extra with coaching). You could still limit it based on age to avoid allowing older players to improve much.

I agree with disciple. Right now you can only improve 3 players in the minors -- so everybody else is worthless. However, I also think those 3 improve too quickly. Ideally, all young players in the minors should improve, but at a slower rate. Just my opinion.

One thing to consider is that some players develop more quickly than others.

This could be addressed by adding a "Potential" or "Development" attribute. Players with a high "Potential" attribute would develop more quickly than a normal player.

... Walt Masterson of Boston in the Willie Mays League surrendered seven runs in two-thirds of an inning. The seven runs scored on four hits, three walks, and a wild pitch.

Of course, it was against Bob's mighty NY Highlanders (aka The Evil Empire :D) so I guess it could have been worse ...

How on earth am I the evil empire? While I certainly wish that title was justified, what about the !#@%*^ SMP? I've only won one pennant and they proceeded to wipe me out in the Series. Plus they've been totally annihilating the NL. Andrew must be stopped -- he's truly the evil empire.

Cincy is currently on a 14 games losing streak... The pitching staff is truely horrific!

Losing streak reaches 18 games for the Cincy Sliders - that's 6 series in a row swept by the opposition...
