is one of the gayest things in the universe.
"look at me! I can type in a way hard to understand by using different keystoke combinations to make letters!". Its not hard to figure out when you look at it. I can read it, it just takes me 10 times longer to read than normal writing, so I dont waste my time reading l_337 bullshit except to prove to l_33t assholes that I can read it. It is for losers who use it to try to act cool. l_337 sucks.

in case you dont know, leet (spelled l_337 in leet) is where you replace regular letters with characters and various combinations that look somewhat like the real letters, without using the real letters. It is seen a lot in online gaming where losers (usually newbies) try to make their usernames look cool by using leet.
"An internet hacker language, often used to confuse those who do not know it.

there are variations on some of the letters - making it even more gay.
The most annoying way of typing known to man. Letters are often replaced with numbers or symbols. stands for Leet/elite
0h m@n ! @m teh r0x0rz!!!
1. A code used by hackers when the government began using filters to censor words; a way of disguising a word so as not to be caught on the 'net. Now used simply by gamers and not exactly a secret code anymore.
2. An internet term meaning "elite".
3. Year when the Muslims were finally able to defeat the Bizantine empire.
supersayingoku: omg i so leet u stopiud noeb
Werepenguin: Shut up and die.
usage: most commonly used for people who don't know what 1337 is about and think it is cool
it was actually used in usergroups where content including things such as "hacker" were censored or deleted using programmed filters. using 1337 was used to get past these filters and since there are so many forms of a word using 1337, they had to give up.
n. 1. Nestled between 1336 and 1338, 1337 is commonly known as a number, or for the more advanced; an "integer"
2. Often misused to satisfy a lamen's ego, the self-proclaimed 1337 will misuse the title, pretending to hold Xtr3m H4x0r capabilties while in fact masturbating to preteen beastiality at 2:00 AM with baggy eyes; anonymously hassling n00b's with better things to do than kill their babies over mindrot such as Everquest and Warcraft. See also "colon debris" and "queefstain"
A word used my losery 10 year olds who read it playing Counter-Strike, which is in between watching Dragonball Z and Pokemon. Most of them don't know what it means and write screwed up sentences.
Loser69: h4 h4 I 4m 500 1337. j00 ll4ma ha><0|2z 5u|< mi w4ng!
Realplayer: Shut up and die.
Once used by the hacker community as sort of a sub-culture language, ANYONE using this type of speak in the present day in age is either:
A) A clueless net newbie who somehow thinks its still "cool" to speak this way.
B) A veteren net user who uses it to parody the type of people mentioned in example A.
u r n0t 1337 d00d!!11
those are other definitions.

Why would you use that crap? I also hate "I <3 Jack" or whatever.

This does seem unnecessary, why trash-talk in a type of writing no one except a select few understand? Guess it feeds into the loser/outcast mindset...

I can't stand that horrible language. Thankfully it's becoming a joke and those who use it are generally insulted, so we see less and less of it. It's common amongst video game forums and online gaming. I don't even bother trying to understand it, I just ignore and more on.
