Versatile players ???

With the hybrid players in NFL. Playing DE, LB and also dropping into pass coverage. I drafted attached player for this purpose. However, even with his ability to play certain positions are equal. B+ OLB, ILB, SS and DE. I am unable through depth charts play him at DE. http://football.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=2897792

I have seen posts concering this. Didn't realize that a player that ranked that high in a position, wouldn't be able to play there. Still VERY happy with player. Just would have liked the versatility!!

you used to be able to. but they made the positions more restrictive so that the only way a S can play DE is if it's listed as his best pos. some people were upset that others would use guys in 'weird' spots, like FB at OL, P at QB or S at DE/DT. wasn't me doing that though. uh uh. no way no how. not me. nope.

If I'm wrong and there are a bunch of S's lining up at DE in the NFL, let me know and I'll add S to the list that can play DE. Needs to be more than "A S played DE a few times 20 years ago" sort of thing.

Also, any premium league can requests adjustments to the qualification chart for their league.

Only OLB can play DE. Looking at the player though he should be a LB not a S not many safeties are going to play much in the NFL with B- pass coverage skills. If he was classified based on skills he would be an OLB not a S. He would have had a position change in college with that skill set and never made it to the NFL as S. I also don't think OLB or S should lose ratings when they play DE or CB. I dislike that about the game. It's a common transition in the NFL especially today. Safeties have to be able to cover in today's NFL and should always translate well to CB without missing a step, same for OLB standing up or putting your hand in the dirt can change depending on the down or the scheme.

If his Best Role was other than Safety, he would have changed in college; my guess is he was probably just a point or two shy of it.

With the updates I am putting in there are "middle of the road" options for out-of-position play as opposed to all or nothing, I'll take a look at it regarding how the defense is handled.
