Can we all agree to revisit/reevaluate this after 5 or so seasons? We might want to try one of the systems (3 or 4) recommended by iamalbundy or have a discussion about variable development if draft pick trade values are still weird.

And to answer maxrecline's question, I'd rather look at variable development (more strategy) than system 3 or 4 (less strategy), but that's just my opinion.

In my experience you need system 3 or 4 with variable development.
You need all the IC's on the players in the minors to try and figure what VD path they might be on.
That is where the strategy can come in.

It's not strategy. It's about having the time to do it. Most don't.
I have been a first hand witness to it in one league and would never vote for it.

VD can also be used by people with lots of time on their hands to take advantage of those who don't by tracking which path they think the players are on.It's not strategy. It's about having the time to do it. Most don't.
