I hate it when the new Owner is smarter than me! What is a Pierogis?November 19, 2014 at 03:44AM View BBCode
Pierogi is the name of the Native American war-chief that defeated the Britiish during the Battle of Three Rivers in 1748.November 19, 2014 at 02:15PM View BBCode
Pierogies are quite excellent, my grandma used to make them all the time, she would stuff them mostly with potatoes and onions, but also other things, Mrs. T's made decent frozen ones when I was in college, fry em with lots of onions.November 19, 2014 at 05:11PM View BBCode

love the comments. my grandma used to make them too - always made enough to feed an army them she would freeze them to give to use when we visited.
also make lots of halupki, stuffed peppers, haluski, and gnocchi. she made a lot of homemade chicken soup too. that's all I can remember.

My Grandmother also made them and all the other foods mentioned along with Beet Soup. Usually for family gatherings Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We are of Ukrainian descent.November 20, 2014 at 10:19PM View BBCode
Yeah my grandparents family was from Lewis Run and Bradford, Pa (Northern Pa), also of Polish and German decent, pierogis and the breads she made were great, I was not too fond of the halupkis or the sauerkraut as a kid, a bit more favorable to them now as I have gotten older.November 20, 2014 at 11:24PM View BBCode
My wifes parents visited us for a month from Ukraine, and her mother refused to let us eat out during her stay. She made lunch everyday and always had dinner for us. We still have some halupkis frozen in our fridge to eat. They truly spoiled us.August 12, 2015 at 01:28AM View BBCode
