From MVP one year to LVP the next

Just had this happen to me in a trial league (so small sample size warning!): Guy gets the MVP award in the first season, then proceeds to completely forget how to hit, becoming one of the worst hitters I've ever started for a full season. He managed to nearly cut his OPS in half from one season to the next! I'm guessing he won the gold glove this year out of pity.
