Too many INT

April 02, 2015 at 04:30PM View BBCode

My QB seems to be throwing an extraordinary amount of INT, and I have to think it is my playcalling/play selection. Trying to tweak things around but having little success, and in the same vein my run game never seems to get going (even though I've had an A- back and a B+ backup for several seasons).

Any advice on playcalling to reduce INT but still be able to move the ball effectively, passing or otherwise?

Thanks!

that's a pretty involved question. too involved for an easy response on a message board. to keep things simple, I would suggest two things:

one, you throw deep too much. you have a QB with A ACC and only A- PWR. his strength is going to be the short/intermediate passing game, but you have him throwing it down the field 25-30% of the time. he's going to struggle badly with that, and his completion rates at those distances reflect that.

two, B+ STR OL are awful. I don't know how much you use them, but they won't be very effective when you do and that's going to impact both your running game and the amount of time your QB is under pressure.

oh, and your best WR is Doell. you need to get him more involved.

That would explain a number of issues, it seems. I knew there were some OL issues contributing but hadn't yet figured out the correct set of plays for this QB.

Thanks!
