Jason LaRue hit into a sacrafice double play today. I wish I had seen it because the play was 9-3-6-5. The runner was out at home, yet the catcher nor the pitcher were involved. Anyone want to explain it to me?July 20, 2004 at 07:08PM View BBCode
well it was a linedrive to the right fielder, he threw it to first base... then they threw it to the shortstop, and then to third base. that makes no sense at all...July 20, 2004 at 07:46PM View BBCode
Runners on second and third. It looks like the lead runner scored. The throw went home, but the 1B should be the cutoff man cut the throw . . . here's where it does get a bit hazy, but here's my best guess . . . he goes to throw behind the runner, who immediately breaks hard for third; the SS either behind the runner or at second who has no chance at the guy who is about to round third. SS tosses to 3B, who runs down the guy, now in a jam between third and home. Since he was on his way home, the official scorer says "out at home." 'July 20, 2004 at 08:32PM View BBCode
It was probably cut off by 1B, which caught the runner from second half way between 2nd and 3rd, runner freezes, 1B throws behind the runner, runner goes to third, SS throws to third, runner is out.Pages: 1
