(Jacobson brought his slick fielding to the major leagues, appearing late in the 1984 after 4 fruitful seasons in the Philadelphia farm system. Receiving the nickname of Baby Doll because of his small stature, Jacobson always played big and in 1985, his first full season, took home the N.L. Rookie of the Year honors. The following season he was voted to his 1st of 15 All-Star appearances and helped Philly post a league best 107 wins. Always a hard worker on the field and in the GYM, Jacobson developed home run power along with his speed, winning 4 Gold Gloves and 2 MVP awards. In 2000, after eclipsing his goal of 3,000 hits and being named to his 15th All-Star Team, he decided to retire and spend more time with his wife and coaching his young sons.
