White Sox - Washington

August 31, 2015 at 11:55PM View BBCode

The White Sox returned from a profitable road trip and have begun a series with the Washington Nationals. The word from the Chico club house was that with the absence of the team's best relief pitcher there was a dire need for the starters to pick up the slack.

The response has been noticeable in the two subsequent two games. Game one starter Bobby Bishop struck out the first five batters he faced in the game and had a no-hitter through five and a third innings before Washington broke through with five runs to take a 5-2 lead.

In that inning Bishop walked the first two hitters, Macado and Weiters in front of Ryan Flaherty. That sent Bishop to the showers and brought in Lou Durham who did not get any one out allowing a resounding double off the wall by J.J. Hardy and a homerun by Caleb Joseph.

Fred Woolridge, the third pitcher of the inning stopped the bleeding in the inning and went the rest of the way to earn the win. (WP 2-1 3.2IP) .

Mike Boone drew Chicago one closer in the eighth with a homerun and Allen Chambers three run homer in the 9th was the game winner.

Reed Mooneyham went all the way in game two giving u 6 hits and 1 run for his fourth win (4-3).

Chicago hitters banged out three homeruns in the late innings to take this one 8-1.

Jim Johnson hit a three run homer in the eighth (his 6th), and Mick Denham (4) and Larry Walton (9) hit solo shots in the ninth.
