Toronto continues to strive to get better as the young season begins in ernest. The Indians evened their record at 2 wins 2 losses with a 9-2 backhanding of the Texas outlaws.

Starter Dave Hanna picked up his first victory by logging 7.1 innings being tagged for 12 hits, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts and 2 runs, both earned.

Ted Plank handled the final 1.2 innings in relief walking one striking out one.

Toronto amassed 13 hits in the game; Fabian Peters (.562) had four hits in four at bats scored 2 runs and drove in 1 run.

Tracy Walters (.471) was 3 for 5. scored 1 run and drove in 2.

Rookie outfielder Ryuji Hidaka walked and scored in the 3rd inning to put Toronto on the scoreboard 1-0.

Texas rallied in responce in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 1-1 on Kirby Lancelotti's run scoring single bringing home Curt Giancano, who has singled.

First baseman Tim Hunter homered in the 5th to put Toronto back in front 2-1 in the fourth.

In the 5th rookie outfielder Ryuki Hidaka hit his first career home run with a man on and one out.

The blast brought Tewksbury's efforts to an end. Toronto was up 4-1 at this point.

Texas picked up a run in their 5th inning. Pitcher Randy Moore contruibuted a lead off single and Curt Glaviano moved him to second with a liner to left. Lancelotti bounced into a double play. Frank Urbanski clutch two-out hit produced a run to cut the Toronto advantage to 4-2.

Toronto bats went to work over the final three innings scoring five times to ice this one.

Womack singled home Fabian Peters in the 7th.

Tim Hunter's single in the 8th added a second run and Womack completed his big day with a two -out run scoring single. Mike Buchanan's two run shot produced the final score of 9-2
