Chicago dealt Tampa Bay a 9-4 loss that cost the Bombers sole possession of the top spot in the AL.
Chicago had two three run innings that proved to be too much for Tampa Bay to overcome. The three-run bottom of the fourth erased a 2-1 Tampa lead. John Tellman had the key blow in the inning, a two run homer.
The score was 5-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning when Chicago tacked on three more runs to put the game away.
The winning pitcher was Johnny Matos (4-2), the loser Carlos Meyers (4-3).

Anaheim acquired reliever Bill Eddy from St Louis in a trade. They also called up two outfielder, Lou Wilson and Charles Davis (also acquired from St. Louis in an earlier trade.)
Eddy did not pitch, but both rookie outfielders contributed to the win that put the Angels in a tie for first place.
Anaheim scored a run in the first inning after Wilson, who arrived shortly before game time, tripled in his first official at bat. Brooks Lowry's fly to right field was deep enough to allow Wilson to tag and score.
The Angels got to Toronto starter Dave Kenna in the second for four runs. Shortstop Walt harlow singled, Louis Johnson was hit by a pitch, and Davis drew a walk as Kenna fell apart. Catcher Bob Chamberlain singled in two runs (Harlow and Johnson). Loughlin lofted a flyball that scored Davis.
Lloyd Leinhauser hit a solo home run to start the 3rd putting the Angels up 6-0 and finsihing Kenna's outing.
Loughlin went the distance allowing 3hits and no runs walked noone and struck out 4.
Wilson's debut was a notable one he tripled in his first at bat and doubled in his second. The young outfielder is a talented hitter, a superb base runner but is niot a polished fielder by any means.
His status will depend greatly on his hitting.
