Detroit won game two of their series with Anaheim behind right hander Marcelino Mendoza who improved his record to 5-2 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.30 for year.
Four walks caused his some problems with extra base runners but two double plays turned by the second-short combination of Josh Barnes and Tony Cooke were helpful.
The infield for the Tigers played one of their better games of the season. Barnes at second had 4 assists 1 putout, Cooke the shortstop totaled 3 assists and 1 putout and over at third Larry Foster handled 4 assists flawlessly.
Detroit took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Catcher Mike Simpson doubled to left field and scored on Tony Cooke's single to left field.
Simpson started Detroit's second scoring rally when Hugh Gray walked him to start the 5th inning. Cooke reached on an error by second baseman Ron Bernaro and Efran Gonzalez singled to load the bases.
Simpson and Cooke came in to score on Chuck Reynolds single. Gonzalez was thrown out at third by center fielder Roy Guinn.
Anaheim scored its only run in the 7th when pinch hitter John Hammer singled in Bacsic with two outs.
Alex Colpaert picked up his 6th save striking out two of the three batters he faced in the inning.
Toronto 4 Cleveland 3 (13)
Toronto has won five in a row and three of the five games has gone into extra innings.
Ronnie Eshelman's single to left scored Greg Davis with the game's first run in the top of the 5th. Davis reached on an error by third baseman George Newsom.
Jim Nash hit his 6th of the year off Guzman in the 6th to make it 2-0
Mike Donovan got Cleveland going in the bottom of the 6th with his 18th of the season.
Pat Ojeda took over for Guzman in the 8th and he gave up a run on 2 hits and a walk. Greg Davis singled in Nash in the inning to make it 3-1 Toronto.
Cleveland tied the game in the bottom of the 9th inning off Closer Bob Sprague. Donovan singled and Chuck Spillman homered.
In the 11th inning Charles Young hit his first of the season to win it for Toronto.
