Hey Leonard,
I saw the post in your league about possible merger scenarios.
From what I can tell the YBL has the following teams that are ownerless and/or listed for sale:
*For Sale
Detriot *
Minnesota *
New York AL *
Seattle *
Texas *
Toronto *
Atlanta
Chicago NL
Milwaukee
San Diego *
San Francisco *
Leaves the YBL with the following active teams:
Boston
Cleveland
Brooklyn
Houston
Pittsburgh
The Manny Ramirez League has the following teams that are ownerless and/or listed for sale:

Cleveland *
Detroit *
Minnesota *
New York AL
Toronto *
Brooklyn
Montreal *
New York NL
Leaves the MRL with the following active teams:
Baltimore
Seattle
Cincinnati
Los Angeles NL
Philadelphia
San Diego
San Francisco
That leaves us with 12 total active teams between both leagues, 4 AL and 8 NL, and no duplicate owners / cities.
A 16 team league merger seems like a good bet. Im sure we could fill those AL holes and Im sure we could reach an agreement on league rules. I dont foresee any Manny owners having a problem with a 12 gpd schedule.
Our league is currently without a commish so you would have to take the reigns on this if you think you can get the owners over there to agree to it.
If interested come back to us with a proposal on league rules.

The Yogi Berra League currently has six active owners and the MRL has seven if my numbers are right. A merger would thus give us thirteen active teams and we would need to find three more. We would have to iron out the rules differences. The YBL plays 12 games a day and the MRL plays 15. Going to 15 games is a bit more expensive which may or may not be a concern for YBL owners. Waiting to hear from them.I think these are the rules differences:

Maybe we could compromise and lower the games played per day to 12.
Use numbers which allows users that prefer letters to set that in their profile
Hold a vote of all active owners of the merged league as to their favorite minors system.
The rest are rather minor and should not be a cause of anyone to leave the league.

The only rules you didn't mention in YBL was team names have to be real team names and real players names also.

I would like to see a draft or outline of the rules/scenario before I can vote for or against. Spent last 4 seasons building up a minor league team to have it washed away on a whole new league. Not that I'm against a merger I'll likely be for it but there are reasons to look at.

In a merged league we would all have the same set of players as we do now. The only thing is league history starts at zero. Since I am only a chaperone though I would not have a team unless I wanted to buy in which I might be willing to do.[Edited on 9-24-2016 by mrtwolff]

We really haven't stuck to the real player names lately. After 171 seasons, it's been difficult to come up with variations of real player names that haven't been used before.

Minor League System 3 I like 6 but most owners responding are using system 3 in the MRL. Let me know.

I have not had much response from the owners in the YBL. This is what I propose:12 games per day

I plan to ask admin to pause our league at end of current season but would like to have these subs canceled since the new league will require a brand new subscription anyway, if that is how you wish to pay.

I have sent the proposed agreement to admin. The YBL just had its draft so I think we should pause the league until the MRL finishes its current season which would be this coming weekend I think.

I also think it makes more sense to use numbers instead of letters. If you like letters, you can adjust your settings to see letters instead.
Does anyone else agree? Maybe we can set up a poll to decide on these?
I'd be happy if we merged and I'd also be happy if we continue on separately. :)

No reply from admin yet. I was hoping to get the YBL stopped before we started a new season but that didn't happen.

Admin replied last night. The merger is scheduled to take place after our next offseason. The YBL will be paused now. Hopefully sometime next week the new league will be set up and ready to go.Be on the lookout for posts or utu from admin related to this merger.
